With rumors of LAL looking at Smart, and Morant returning next year:

LAL trades Hachimura, Reaves, Vincent
Grizzlies trades Smart, Kennard

If Smart is the goal, then Lakers have to pay with Reaves. The added benefit is LA gets under the cap.

Grizzlies get a shooting guard to use use Bane at the SF.

I don't see why Memphis wants to turn Smart into Reaves. I have Smart more valuable for them. Then you have them eating Rui and Vincent money on top of that with no incentive.

Just not even close to something Memphis considers.

If we were rebuilding and just wanted to take the stab on Reaves talent and didn't care about the bad money then I think this might have legs. But we are not rebuilding and team fit and unwanted future salary here kills the deal. I don't think we have any interest in making Bane a full time SF. Maybe a 3rd team that really wants Reaves and doesn't mind the Vincent and Rui contracts could be found and a three way deal can be struck here.

Something around Russell and future assets for Smart is the most likely trade here. Russell fills in as a backup PG/sixth man and serves as a playable TPE next year while we look for a bigger trade with the assets attained here combined with our lottery pick/other assets.
