OKC gets Cam Johnson and DFS

Nets gets Bertans, Giddey, Dieng, all 3 of OKC 2024 1sts (currently 12, 13, 27), Heat 2025 1st (top 14 protected in 2025, unprotected in 2026)

Wizards get either Mann or Poku and 2 seconds

OKC makes a move and cashes in a decent chunk of assets to go get two guys to help them win now. Both Cam and DFS seemingly fit what OKC is trying to do on both offense and defense. They gain perimeter size for the inevitable playoff wars that will ensue.

Nets take the first step in resetting. They get 4 firsts that are all but guaranteed to actually convey, plus Giddey and Dieng. Bertans contract only has a partial guarantee of 5.25 million next year.

The Wizards get two seconds to take on either Poku or Mann to facilitate the financials of making the deal work. OKC has like 30 second round picks, so I didn’t specify which ones. Let’s just say one is a good second and the other is a whatever second.

That’s a really high valuation of Cam Johnson.

I personally agree, but I think OKC can overpay if necessary. And with how good SGA/JDUb/Chet are now, I think a case could be made to overpay

I post overpays for OKC weekly to try and win. And they should. They can’t afford all of the draft picks and their current group. No team could. And no team has that many roster spots.. so go for it now and delay and/or consolidate the other firsts. It makes sense.

But this just feels like a lot. Like might as well include Claxton as well. But this is probably closer to Bridges and Claxton really than Cam and DFS

Say DFS gets the Houston pick and 2nds.. that’s three firsts for Cam Johnson, without even factoring in Giddey or Dieng.

It doesn’t add up.

I think Giddy still has the most trade value here. I have Cam as a neutral contract, maybe fetches a late 1st/expiring at best. DFS also worth a 1st around 17+/expiring. So I have the OP about 3 too many 1sts here.

This is closer to a Mikal package than a Cam + DFS package. Not nearly enough for Mikal but way too much for Cam + DFS

Seems like a lot going to BKN but Wizards are happy to facilitate.

I can understand OKC paying a pick or two to acquire another big forward, but I don't see them paying twice the price to acquire two of them. They really only need one guy like that, plus maybe one more center.

Dieng, Giddey and 4 FRPs is a Mikal Bridges kind of package. I know we have many picks but they are still valuable assets (even more now with the new CBA). Dieng is still a decent prospect that could be worth a FRP from a rebuilding team so that's a lot of value we are giving up

Yeah add a bit more and swap Cam for Mikal.

Sure of course I’m down with that. I think there is a tendency to overvalue players on this board, especially when your team is the one giving up the actual good actual nba players and as such conversations and discussions almost immediately die out. I didn’t want that to happen.

I appreciate all the feedback .
