Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
Brooklyn sends:
Claxton
DFS
OKC sends:
Aaron Wiggins
Tre Mann
Davis Bertrans
‘24 Houston 1st
If Houston first doesn’t convey, becomes better of ‘25 Miami and Philly picks.
‘25 Philly 2nd
Why?
OKC brings in a young long term fit at center and a veteran coveted 3&D wing on a fair contract.
Brooklyn decided they don’t want to pay Clax this summer and gets a 1st round pick, a 2nd rounder, and a sleeper buried in OKC’s depth chart, taking on bad shorter term money in the process.

Re: Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
I think on value alone the answer to this is yes, but I’d guess that OKC is unwilling to include Wiggins in this deal. They would instead make up whatever value necessary by opening up the war chest of assets

Aaron Wiggins saved basketball, why would Brooklyn do this deal without Wiggins?

Because Wiggins is a year away from like a
4/85 million dollar contract. OKC could also give asset starved Brooklyn pick(s).

Re: Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
I like the OP! Thumbs up from me.
What would the difference be for BKN if OKC included Dieng or Poku instead of Wiggins? Like Dyn4sty I’d prefer to keep him if possible.

Re: Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
I think Aaron Wiggins is more valuable to OKC than he would be to Brooklyn so it doesn't make much sense to me to include me. Nets FO might disagree but they have so many good wings that I don't get why they would want to trade for him while OKC would rather send more value in picks.
but sure value is fair. If there's a possibility to swap Wiggins for another player/picks, it would be better for both teams IMO

wiggins is a good role player but he's 25 years old and averaging 6 points a game.

I don’t think he’s getting a contract that big unless he’s traded to the right situation and showcases himself, but to me he has some real breakout potential.
It wouldn’t shock me to see a team with cap space take a shot on him, on a big contract and he winds up a versatile starting caliber wing, putting up an efficient 17/5/4, and can fit on most any roster.

Re: Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
So consensus seems to be OKC prefers to keep Wiggins, Nets fans prefer more draft capital.
So maybe remove Wiggins, make it Dieng and add a distant 1st?

Re: Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
This feels closer to the return Brooklyn would get for Claxton by himself, not Claxton & DFS.

Re: Brooklyn | Oklahoma City
Bertans, Poku, 2 2024 1sts (2nd and 3rd worst, top 10 prot of UTA/LAC/OKC/HOU -- currently 13 and 27), 2025 MIA 1st (lotto prot, unp) for Claxton, DFS
13, Poku for Claxton
27, 2025 MIA 1st, Bertans for DFS
That seems very fair to me.

Ya IMO this is a really fair all around deal.

Feel like BK would ask for the best ‘24 and if anything either the worst ‘24, or one of the lesser distant picks.
Probably just the best ‘24 pick though, then the rest you have in the deal.

Maybe. Honestly, I think the Nets would pray that the Utah pick rolls over to the better '25 draft, but I don't see 3 teams passing them in the Standings.
The values are fair, but I don't think the Nets are that interested in '24 picks or moving Claxton. They'll move Claxton if something crazy is offered or they believe some desirable team (Orlando?) will offer him crazy money in free agency.

Brooklyn needs a big coming back - Dieng, Williams. …

It is. Maybe even too good for Brooklyn considering Claxton could just leave OKC in a few months.
Claxton is the only Nets player I'd be disappointed if he gets traded, however, I'd lowkey want to see him on OKC as a basketball fan. That defense would be ridiculous.
He could play as a roaming wing defender with Chet at center. You could use DFS as the 5 defensively and have Chet and Clax helpside. Can also just keep it simple and switch everything with SGA-Williams-DFS-Chet-Clax.
