Royce Rolls to Cleveland

CLE trades: Dean Wade, Ty Jerome, 2025 MIL 2nd, 2026 CLE 2nd, 2027 DEN 2nd, 2028 CLE 2nd, 2029 CLE 2nd
BRK trades: Royce O'neale
Cleveland grabs Donovan's friend & a good fit for them at the 3. They also move off of Wade's future money (he's fine, but probably not worth it).
Brooklyn trades Royce for a ton of seconds. They likely release Jerome, and Wade is a bit overpaid but is still a rotation level player in the NBA.

How much can I bet the under on 5 2nds for Royce. This seems like Clev is getting a friend tax of 2 2nds to me.

They are paying to move off of Wade, too. I assume that's worth at least 1 2nd, if not 2.

I got Wade at worst neutral here. He is a solid 8th man making 8th man money. Brooklyn might not want him due to the FA plans but I wouldn't accept a negative 2 2nds penalty applied to him in this type of move.

I have this as 2-3 too many 2nds.
But the title is worth at least one 2nd.

I like Wade. I think he is a solid player. I don’t want to trade him at all, let alone add 5 2nd round picks.

They're paying to move off the guy who was pretty important as a starter when Garland and Mobley went down?
Why?

Yes, the premise is beyond silly.

My hope for Wade is still 2021-22 Kevin Love, but with better defense.

He's never going to shoot as well as Love, he'll always play better defense. He makes $6M per. If Mitchell doesn't leave, having a guy like that is about to become very important.

The Cavs cannot trade Wade without acquiring a stretch big. He's in a real role on this team while O'Neale might not crack the rotation.
I wouldn't trade Wade straight up.
In addition, the Cavs can't really do this and avoid the tax.
