Sound like Mann is the prize here? I didn't have high expectations but damn I'm not sure this is better than just buying him out???

Looks like they’re setting up a trade to give Charlotte a full $7m ish cut in salaries, which is better than any realistic buyout would’ve been. If they liked Mann a lot, then

I hate this. I would rather play Aaron Wiggins over Hayward. He was super cheap though so in a vacuum it's a good trade but that was just not the kind of player I wanted to trade Bertans for. I don't think we are making another move now with Bertans contract gone.

we're like barely over the cap, that's completely inconsequential except for the owner's checkbooks

But they're taking on $5M in future salary

All buyouts are largely inconsequential except for the owners checkbook.

Love the fit of Hayward on OkC. Should be fun to watch.

Sure. But if they were only getting a prorated vet minimum out of Hayward as a potential buyout, then, they’re still coming out a bit ahead here? And again, on top of that, if they like Mann….
But Charlotte has 15 under contract. Bertans and Mann is a little short of matching, so OKc will have to send out 3 or 4 guys, so Charlotte will likely kick back a couple vet minimums and then they save about $5m in cash again?

I'll be honest, I am a little baffled that Charlottte did not get even a single mediocre-quality second, in this deal.
Regardless, I absolutely love this trade for Oklahoma City (and hate it for Minnesota). If they manage to pry Andre Drummond out of Chicago (or some other backup rebounding big), they will be unbelievably scary.

Gotta ask, is Hayward the player that OKC should have been looking to pick up? I mean OKC needs bigs, and Hayward isn’t exactly an elite defender. I mean it’s not a bad move, but it just doesn’t seem to fit.

Poku needs to be in for the money to work.
I had Bertans, Poku, Mann, HOU 2nd previously.

Welp, OKC is basically out of any other big trades now, unless Hayward is used in a 1:1 as salary filler.

Wow, what a great move for OKC. Presti didn't even have to include a 2nd round pick. Impressive.

Same. Big smart wing with playoff experience who can shoot + be a connective passer; and OKC has the defenders to cover for him on the other end
