Toronto gets off the last year of Schroeder's contract. Brooklyn gets a talent upgrade and gets Dinwiddie's horrible attitude out of the locker room.

everyone loses lol

Toronto has to play Dinwiddie, Nets take on an extra year of salary, Lakers probably can't even pawn off DLo for an expiring anymore

Toronto gets off a year of Dennis Schröder (he wasn't thrilled about ending up behind Immanuel Quickley on the depth chart), while Brooklyn gets a fringe starting Point-Guard who is locked in for next season at a low rate.

Pretty meh, but it makes sense directionally for both.

Pretty uninspiring trade, but I like it for Toronto. Good to clear the cap, with Schröder being unhappy.

I know a lot of Raps fans wanted Dennis gone but he was a good backup.
But I guess they are really clearing salary for next year.

Dinwiddie buyout? He was claiming no from Brooklyn, but Toronto should definitely want to set him free.

I think DSJ could have fetch a decent 2nd. I think I would have just cut Dinwiddie and traded DSJ for that 2nd or just held him. Brooklyn is set up to be very uninspiring next year unless Simmons just fully bounces back.

edit...DSJ not in trade....waiting on details.

Too bad, I was hoping Brooklyn was gonna roll out the D.E.N.N.I.S. System backcourt.

For Toronto, the money makes sense with Thad + Schroeder for Dinwiddie, and they'll have a ton of space in the off-season. Opens up a roster spot for a Bruce Brown trade too.

On court, whether they get a few more or a few less lottery balls, which will determine whether they keep their pick or send it to SAS :dontknow:

edit: with DSJ added, I think Toronto cuts Dinwiddie if they find a Bruce Brown trade

Dinwiddie and Kelly are weird targets for a tanking team.

But clearing the second year of Dennis makes it a win, despite the attachment that was there. I’d say it’s another good trade for Toronto that doesn’t make sense to me..

Brooklyn gets a cheap enough place holder for next year. Some of their fans were worried about the tax next season, but maybe Dennis playing a big role with his MLE sized contract helps that compared to what they expected to spend on a PG?
