1. How much Tyus Jones sign for?

Does everything look good for the Southeast?

How much do people think Bey is worth? I’d take him back but not overpay. I like him coming off the bench as a scorer but he’s too poor defensively to be a starter.

Non-Tax MLE?

For ATL.... Bey is not the greatest target imo to re-sign, but at MLE level I think he's appropriate for them. Otherwise, let him walk, he's not good enough defensively. Hawks should be trying to get creative in the trade market because that team has a lot of attractive players, and focusing around JJ/Young/OO is probably better than Hunter and Capela, and Bogdanovic to some extent, though I do like Bogdan as a bench shooter for the Hawks. Murray's status for the team is still up in the air, he could be traded too.

Miles Bridges 4/120M plus, or S/T somewhere could be attractive option
CHA should offer Maxey and maybe IQ and get those teams to match or offer more. Needs to eval and push development hard. Health of Lamelo would be ideal next season to help the team along.

Orlando needs a PG, not a lot of FA options in 2024, but maybe Murray or Tyus is available for an inter-division trade... But something like Giddey, Sexton, or Ivey ? Maybe one of these younger initiators/ PG-players are moved for the right price.

Miami... I am not sure what they will do. Rozier and Robinson are not great contracts but I'm also not sure what other team is accepting them back for a star level player. Do they make a play to get Klay on their team ?

Washington should attempt to trade everyone not named Avdija and Coulibaly and maybe Tyus Jones and get a second chance at a top level draft pick in 2025. It's development time and some players are just not it, like Poole. Tyus would be a great S/T target for championship level teams to bring in as PG2 and would get WAS a better return.

Miami will be a tax team next season. They will not trade for Terry if they didn't know that.

Jones a FA, though im not sure how much better he can get. and I dont really consider Ivey a PG, he is more combo guard like Suggs. I would shake the tree on Murray and Sexton.

If I were Orlando I would make a move in the draft for a point guard. So do what you have to do to trade up for Topic, Sheppard, or Dillingham. A lightly protected future 1st and/or a decent prospect like Black should entice a lot of teams at the top of the draft. It's a better gamble than paying a fortune for Trae Young imo.

That's basically what they are doing, only they can't trade Poole because he is the worst contract in the league and nobody wants him.

The trick is to try and trade guys when their value is highest. Kuzma, for example will probably increase in value as his contract descends relative to an increasing salary cap. Tyus was shopped but they only got SRP offers, so they declined those and will instead resign Tyus (probably to a descending deal) with the hope to trade him sometime in the future for a better return. He can help teach the youngsters in the meantime.

Kispert is really the only guy worth debating about. Should they trade him or extend him? I could go either way. He is a useful role player, but already 25. It depends on the trade offers and the expected cost of his new contract.

With the possible exception of Orlando, I suspect the best offers for him this summer will be MLE offers. With that in mind, the Wizards should offer him just a little bit more, plus the promise of a starting job. That should be enough to convince him to stay.

A 3-year MLE contract with 5% raises pays him $12.8, $13.5 and $14.1M over the next 3 years respectively for a total of $40.4M. I figure the Wizards should offer him a 3-year $42M deal. Frontload the deal with 8% salary declines each year and it will look like this: $15.2M, $14.0M, $12.8M. In two years, that $12.8M salary will be just 80% of the MLE, which is equivalent to a $9.9M contract today. That should make him pretty tradeable.

Also, a 3-year deal has his contract expire alongside Poole's (and Kuzma's if he lasts that long) which will likely set the Wizards up for a max free agent in 2027 to add to their developing rookie contract squad.

I'd be interested in exploring any of those guys...recent podcasts (good ones, not "from my Mom's basement" stuff) have commented on how Sexton is definitely not a PG and is flourishing now in his correct role. Just a take that kind of made sense...he was a terrible ball-pounder in CLE and he's actually getting more assists now, even largely in an off-ball role...that might be "enough" of a PG for ORL...which is why I always come back to Simons in the same vision.

That seems about right...I'd take him on GS for the NTMLE depending on how the rest of our offseason plays out.

I could see him signing a 1+1 with a contender in need of shooting and hoping to parlay that into a longer term deal a la Donte DiVincenzo.

they just drafted a PG last year. to me the object would be to get a better one for now while Black develops. Maybe Brogdon for his last year

Let Bey seek offers, if any is bigger than MLE, let him go (or get 2nds for S&T). Trade Capela, Hunter and Murray, try and get complementary pieces that fit Trae's timeline. Let Quinn run his offense with tons of 3nD players (would be interesting to see Trae with a 5-out offense), I'm thinking Jalen Smith (IND), Reid (MIN), Carter (ORL) or Stewart (DET). Some possible targets for their wing spot: Jones (NOP), Dort (OKC), Eason (HOU), Avdija (WAS), Williams (CHI), Okoro (CLE), Melton (PHI). Let Bufkin grow in a backup role (still a believer in him) spotting up here and there for 14mpg.

I really like Wendell Carter for ATL...could be part of a DJM deal, IMO. He can do a lot more than he is (or should) in a frontcourt with Paolo & Franz. Great contract, still young, versatility is his thing above all else. He could also play next to Okongwu if he becomes more than an interesting prospect.
