Ball for Ingram?

Charlotte trade: Ball
Pelicans trade: Ingram
Just a straight up swap.
Charlotte gets a pretty good wing scored in Ingram who they can pair with their younger wing Brandon Miller. Charlotte creates their version of Tatum/Brown.
Pelicans gets a much better fit with Zion in LaMelo. They always wanted a PG even tried to trade up for Scoot in the draft.
Who says no?

He's got to agree to a max extension as part of the trade otherwise he's not worth considering.
That's only like the 4th biggest problem with this trade for Charlotte though

LaMelo's trade value is interesting in theory because he has shown a lot of flashes, but doesn't seem to care and isn't a winning player and has been constantly injured (with a genetic history that is not good).
But the teams that would take a risk on LaMelo are horrible teams that need any upside like... The Hornets.

If the Hornets trade him I think the return should be in the same age range as Miller. This means good young prospects or high upside picks (maybe both). As a Jazz fan, LaMelo is someone I'd be interested in using some of our assets on. If we could them use the rest for a nice wing to round out the team we could be very good.

The trade would need to be a bit more than 1 for 1. Brining in Ingram creates a crowded Miller, Bridges, Ingram dynamic. Can they play the wing position a at the same time?

We would let Bridges walk in this scenario.
Charlotte has a lottery pick in which they can select a point guard to replace Melo.

they absolutely could... i think an Ingram offer needs to be revolving around our pick + other picks/players, i love a Melo/Miller/BI/Bridges/Williams lineup

Miller and Ingram is not a combination I would want on a team.
Miller has shown enough to think he can be a very good player and unless there's major worries about Ball's body, Charlotte should not be trading him.
Ball/Miller could be a great duo to build around. Add in Mark Williams, and that's a solid 3 to build around

That seems like a huge gamble with Melo/Ingram/Mark and their injury history.

You wouldn't want 2 wings who can both be 20+ppg scorers?
That seems the best way to contend in todays NBA.
The best teams are led by 2 athletic wing duo's Tatum/Brown and Kawhi/PG.
Miller/Ingram can be that kind of duo imo.

We would let Bridges walk in this scenario.
That seems like an incredible waste of assets. Why would we do this?

Or you can just sign n trade Bridges for a piece who fits better with Ingram/Miller.

I have a player in mind that fits quite well with Ingram and Miller

I don't think Miller or Ingram are athletic...

I obviously like it…
Wolveswin wrote:Personally, I think Pels would be better off doing Ingram (to 3rd team) + Daniels for Ball. Add picks as needed.
JVal
Zion
Murphy | Herb
McCollum
Ball
Maybe 3rd team is Memphis? Get Hornets a top 6 pick to go with own top 3 pick.
I still agree Memphis makes a great 3rd team if they think they can pay Ja, Ingram, JJJ and Bane.

Why for Hornets? Lamelo is a Franchise type player when healthy. Would be stupid to give up on him for Ingram who they could get while still retaining Ball.
If I am the Hornets I hang up without even saying thanks for the call

Is there one good enough in Charlotte’s range? Those available have many issues.

I think you answered it- when healthy.

With Trey Murphy III due a big raise, trading Ingram for a longterm PG is a viable strategy.
However, the Hornets currently have a cost-controlled version of Ingram in Brandon Miller. The Hornets are creating a hole here where one does not exist. It fills a hole for the Pelicans and creates one for the Hornets.
Who becomes PG after trading LaMelo?
Deals like this proposal cannot be balanced.
So, I think short of finding a team that would trade a PG for Ingram, Pelicans need to be looking to move Trey Murphy III for someone like Tre Mann.
Mann+ for Murphy III fills a hole for both teams.

Not even Gordon Hayward was devalued based on potential injury. Hornets aren't going to sell LaMelo, especially not low based on possible injury.
