Grizzlies go for Sarr
What would Memphis need to pay to get #1 2024?

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
Most of us would need to know the motivations for Memphis wanting Sarr.
It would seem to me, this is the type of draft that having the #1 pick really doesn't matter for
think of this draft to be similar to 2023 minus Victor, Miller and Scoot. You might get the same
player drafting at 7

If the Wizards end up picking first, I’d trade it for Aldama, #7, and a 2025 FRP.

I'd say none of the above. Doesn't seem to have enough vaue to jump to #1.

I bet most Memphis fans here would have consensus over Sarr as a desired prospect subject to the price required to move up to get him. I could be wrong though.

This doesn't seem realistic as a way to jump from 7 to 1. I mean this might be enough to jump from 3 to 2 or something.

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
I know this is a fairly flat draft but no way 7+25 first from a good team coming off a everything went wrong disaster season gets you 1, think the talk about this draft is getting out of hand. Sarr is significantly better than a lot of guys in the 4-10 range

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
It obviously starts with the team having the No. 1 pick being willing to trade it, but I'm not sure any of these packages get it done.

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
Should have had “none of the above” as an option
Future first would have to be unprotected. Maybe GG, #7 and 2025 FRP is close, but not quite.

Sarr is literally just JJJ but worse, congrats on not getting any rebounds?

Some claim that 19y old GG Jackson would easily be in top-5 of this draft

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
Even in what is being rated a lesser draft, I don't see #7 plus a future MEM 1st moving the Grizzlies up to #1. The future pick would likely have to be a more attractive asset than a Memphis 1st due to their having a decent chance of being a playoff team. Neither Aldama or Jackson have the trade value to really move the needle in this type of deal.

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
I would offer #7 + Aldama to move to #3 and draft either Cody, Risarcher or Buzelis. If not, trade down with OKC for #9 + #12 and draft Clingan + best available SF

Yep, no interest in using GG to move up in this draft. I think Sarr likely falls to 4 or 5 as of right now and maybe we entertain a trade up at that point. No interest in giving up assets needed to jump to one in this draft.
I think we are likely hoping to trade out entirely, if not we can still draft BPA and address our frontcourt needs in FA. A trade down imo is also more likely than a trade up.

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
7 and 25 FRP would do it for me, but Aldama would be worthwhile for WAS too.
Sarr dropping would make MEM happy, or if they are picking even at 4.5.6 etc...

7 and 25 doesn't even get you to 6. The last time the #1 pick was traded it was for #3 and #14 in the next draft (the Kings pick which was expected to be even better).

Do you mean 7 + aldama for 9 + 12? 7 alone wont fetch you 9 and 12

Re: Grizzlies go for Sarr
For the #1 overall, Bane or JJJ would have to be in the conversation. These deals are a quarter or two plus a dime for a dollar.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Curious who credible is making that claim. Can you share some specific names of reputable sources?
