Totally Unrealistic, but CWhite deals (Orl or SA)

Coby is one of the few bright spots for Chi. His improvement this year has been incredible. He's taken 3 major weakness (ball handling, passing and defense) and turned them into slight positives. He's also signed to a great deal. I think he tops out as a marginal All Star (close now, but his shot is still a bit streaky). Plus, he's a hard worker and great kid who'd fit on any team.

BUT, Chi is VERY mediocre, and has few paths to become a contender. 95% chance we run back the same squad more or less next year, and are an average team again, with hopes to take a big step (or two) forward.

White (and Caruso) are great trade chips. Let's say Chi decides to keep Ayo, PWill, Terry (just because his value is so low) and Phillips (ok looking 2nd round pick) and start over.

I think Orl and SA make GREAT partners. They could both use a young stud like White (I know, Chi could too). Are these deals realistic

SA sends the Tor pick (let's say #8 this June) and the Bulls' pick back for Coby

Orl sends Howard, their '24 pick (let's say #17) and the Denver pick

SA and Orl get much better, and Coby is young so he can grow with their core
Bulls add multiple picks and/or young players, save $ (always a bonus in Chi) and tank the 24-25 season, where the top of the lottery looks better. We trade Caruso too, let Lavine gun away until TGiving and trade him and try a sign-and-trade with DDR.

I see this as a better possible path to building a contender than what we're doing. OF COURSE, the Bulls could keep White too and rebuild-which makes more sense. I'm just wondering if Orl/SA would be interested in paying a high price for White

I dont know that White is worth last years lottery pick plus 2 more picks. Yes, the luster is off Howard with him spending time in G League, we just dont know how the ownership (from michigan) value Howard. It all depends on if they think White is that guy. if they do, then this isnt bad.

I really like White's fit in ORL because of ORL's need for his offense and due to their ability to cover for his defense. I believe it would be realistic to assume he could continue his recent success in ORL's lineup. ORL's forwards (and Suggs, to an extent) handle enough of the on-ball play that a "pseudo PG" like Coby could really do well statistically and open things up inside at the same time.

But I'm only giving two of the three assets the OP suggested...a flash of promise isn't enough for that grouping of assets, imo

"Orl sends Howard, their '24 pick (let's say #17) and the Denver pick"

I like the fit the same way I'm obsessed with Simons...except Simons' long-range shooting is so smooth and effortless and his athleticism and length are superior. I'd give all three assets and more for him.

I think trading White is the right way to start the tank honestly. Even if you keep Demar and company, get future picks for White while you can..

Orlando is a decent target. Not sure how going for Howard since Orlando drafted him early and really liked him.. But I think the value is about right.

I think a few win now teams would offer a pretty competitive package considering how cheap White is the next couple years.. the added bonus of tax relief, or cap flexibility would be worth something.

Would look at Brooklyn who could picture max cap space in a year to go with Claxton, Bridges, White.. Maybe Minnesota would see White’s cheap 2 year deal running the same time as Rudy’s deal..

How many picks do you want for Coby & AC? The knicks have 4 2024 & 2025 FRPs, want all of them?

I don´t think Coby has tis value. SA proposal I believe is off. ORL trade I think you can get 2 out of the 3 assets included, so maybe it´s feasible

Yeah this seems like an overpay for White. I'd maybe give up the 2 picks for White, but not adding Howard to that.

You recognize how unrealistic it would be for the Bulls to trade White, but go down that path anyway.

For the low cost contract he just signed White is a building block you hang onto until the rest of the roster around him sorts itself out and the Bulls get closer to contending. You see what kind of a leader he becomes having been around DeRozan and Caruso so that when his contract runs out, he is the #1 guy and gets the max contract.

If you move him now for picks and unproven prospects, you're insulting your fan base by going into delay/rebuild mode for 2, 3, 4 years.

White's defense is surprisingly solid now. He really competes and is a slight positive. He has come a LONG way on that end

I like Coby White, but his contract may be a two edged sword: very friendly in the short term, but harmful in the long term because it's so low it'd likely prevent him from extending, making him a free agent. Also, I don't think a mid lottery pick (7th/8th) is out of the question, but I wouldn't give up a likely 2nd lottery pick for him, given the concerns I mentioned. But he's definitely an interesting player for a team like the Spurs.
