Off-season Deal: Wiggins/2028 protected 1st for Collins/2029 2nd

Ill offer this idea for:
-Warriors to move on from Wiggins and create more 2026 off-season flexibility once Curry contract expired
-Utah gets Wiggins as they get a 1st back for John Collins
To Golden State
-John Collins (2 years, $51.9 million plus $26.5 million P.O.)
-2029 Utah 2nd round pick
To Utah
-Andrew Wiggins (3 years, $78.8 million plus $30 million P.O.)
-2028 Warriors 1st round pick (Top 7 protected or 2028 Atlanta 2nd round pick)
Why?
-Golden State looks to create more 2026 off-season flexibility while moving on from Wiggins as they could look to re-sign Klay to a 2+1 deal and look to start re-tooling in 2026 off-season.
2024-25:
Curry/Payton/FA?
Podz/Thompson/2nd
Kuminga/Moody/Santos
Collins/Jackson-Davis/FA?
Green/Looney/FA?
-Utah looks to roll with starting frontcourt of Markannen and Kessler while Wiggins could start at the 3 for better roster balance. Utah picks up another 1st round pick
Sexton/1st?/FA?
Clarkson/George/FA?
Wiggins/Sensabaugh/FA?
Markannen/Hendricks/FA?
Kessler/Yurtseven/FA?

Ehh, Wiggins would basically never try again if he got moved to Utah and would probably be one of the worst players in the NBA for all three years and then retire afterward.
Think this needs Wiggins being moved to a third team (Toronto is ideal, but doesn't work...)

I don't see this at all for GS.
Wiggins makes $26.3M next year. Collins makes $26.6M. The year after that, Wiggins will make $28.2M while Collins will make another $26.6M when he picks up that player option. So there's really no financial benefit the next two years and Wiggins is a better player and roster fit.
Sure, the year after that Wiggins will have a $30.2M player option that it'd be nice to be out of, but for a team with Steph Curry on the back end of his elite player window it makes absolutely no sense at all to give up a pick to create flexibility for the 2026 offseason 2 years in advance.
I don't see this framework as salvageable at all.

While Collins is bad, it's not clear Wiggins even wants to play in the NBA anymore and he's been one of the worst players in the NBA this year. They probably would move Wiggins and picks for a better player than Collins though.

No thanks from Warriors.
2023 Wiggins was bad. 2024 Wiggins has been very good.
Jan: 12.2 pts / 49.1% FG / 34.2% 3pts / 3.8 rebs / 2.3 asts
Feb: 13.5 pts / 50.4% FG / 47.5% 3pts / 4.5 rebs / 2.1 asts
His points are down largely due to Kuminga's rise, but he has been efficient on offense in 2024, and good on defense. Don't see how Wiggins is a worse fit than Collins. And, if Warriors are rebuilding after Curry, they definitely would want a draft pick in 2028 instead of 30 mis contract for one more season.

Yeah, if I’m the Warriors I’m not doing this. Definitely not adding a pick

I don't see a cap space route for Golden State to build a contender with Curry three years from now, so I don't think sacrificing the asset makes sense. Curry is showing some signs of slowing down - still amazing - but three years from now he might be retired or mentoring a young team.

I think this is the best deal GSW can do to save money. I would replace the 2028 FRP for 2024, though.
Nobody will absorb Wiggins's contract for a late FRP (I mean expiring for Wiggins and 1st), and he is the odd man out in GSW.
It is a financial question here.

Pass for GS. Wiggins is more useful than blowing a first round pick to get off of him. Was playing much better before taking the personal leave and he’s back now and scheduled to play tomorrow

This thread is what’s wrong with Warriors fans just delusional lol. Wiggins is a getting close to Ben Simmons territory and these guys think he has value lol.

Warriors fans are not in here asking for Lauri Markennan for Wiggins. We're just saying we don't want to do this deal.
1.) Wiggins fits better and is a proven champion. We'd rather keep him and gamble that he gets back on track.
2.) Having to add a pick makes this deal even more unappealing.
So do Warrior fans just have to accept any trade proposal to avoid being called delusional?

Warriors can get out of the luxury tax this off season.

Last time I checked this wasn’t a Warrior fan that created this thread/trade proposal. WTF?

Yep Wiggins is a negative

Ok, cool. We'll keep him. Again, it wasn't a Warrior fan that made this thread.

I don’t blame Dubs fans for not wanting to do this, but I absolutely hate it for Utah. It’s best forgotten.

You sure? Apparently, according to some, Warrior fans should take any deal offered for Wiggins.

This is the correct response.
Neither team should be even considering this in fact.

Yeah, I’d hope Dallas offers a less negative offer to get Wiggs to Dallas and wouldn’t need a protected first coming back..
Golden State can sign Christian Wood with the tax MLE instead of hard capping themselves and wasting a first.
