What is Collin Sexton's trade value?

Collin Sexton is an undersized gunner guard who is bad at defense and has injury issues... But he's a really good undersized gunner guard. He tries super hard, he's extremely athletic, and he's a great shooter. He's shooting 74% at the rim, 40% from three, and 86% from the line on high volume for each.
He has a great contract (two years and $37m remaining), but his playstyle just isn't an amazing fit with any contender. What's his current trade value?

Expiring and LP 1st from a good team. Not a starter more than likely and teams will only pay so much for a sixth man.

105 TS+ on 27% USG is actually pretty nutty and he would be one of the best 6th men since Odom and Manu retired. For comparison, peak, 6MotY Jordan Clarkson was a 96 TS+ on 30% USG.
Why would he get less than Terry Rozier?

I think folks probably want a longer track record of his current production. He's a different player today than last year. And i think most folks trading for him would probably want to see him maintain that at least until the next trade deadline. Until then the offers will probably be largely based on his old value.

I mean, the issue for the Jazz is the Jazz realllllllly need to tank next year if they don't care about being just OK (which Ainge seems to have no interest in) and Sexton+Markkanen+Kessler is a super likely .500+ record if they're healthy.
The Jazz tanking again for another very mediocre pick would probably destroy what's left of the fanbase for a few years.

Personally I would take Sexton over just about any other guard his size (ie Rozier). His improvement this season with his court vision has been pretty rare to see and the efficiency and athleticism is still there from his peak Cleveland scoring days too. Speaks alot to his work ethic especially coming off that serious meniscus injury. Unfortunately the market is also really limited for 6'-1' guards in this league right now. Most teams are looking for length.

Sexton is a 6th man of the year candidate in a contender team. A light protected 1st is his value, IMO.

Far more than Jordan Clarkson's value ever was.

If Ainge just wants to flat out lose a trade in order to tank properly for the '25 draft, I'm guessing the Magic might trade Anthony+'24 Denver pick. Utah already has the '24 Clipper pick and the Wiz '24 SRP so adding the Denver FRP probably doesn't do alot for them.
I'm sure Utah was hoping either Minnesota or Cleveland fall on their face similar to how Brooklyn did after the Ainge/Celtic heist but those teams have too much young talent to start landing in the lottery any time soon. Ainge will likely need the Jazz to do the tanking this time to land a future superstar. If that's the case Lauri likely needs to get shipped out. He is hitting his prime and has the potential to be the best Robin in the league but you can't waste him in Utah the next 2 seasons with no hope of playoffs.

Because the Heat were desperate and Riley panicked.

There's nearly always a panicking team if that is what it takes. I think Sextons value is a one good first, or two meh ones. For instance, I could see a world where someone like NYK with two later picks in the first round moves 18 + 25 for him.

Sexton is likely far better than either pick. They'd be stupid to not do that IMHO.

It's far rarer than it used to be. There are a lot more examples of teams holding players too long than there are of rolling a hard six the way the Hornets did.
Personally, I think Sexton's highest and best use is as sixth man playing alongside a guy like Olynyk who can stretch the floor, but doesn't need the ball. The question is whether he's on board with that role and whether the team trading for him needs him to get on board before making that trade.

I don't know. You probably couldn't get away with playing many minutes with Brunson and Sexton together and i'm not sure if it is worth it to give up 2 firsts to fill the small role behind Brunson or if Sexton would be happy playing that limited role. I think they would be a better team if they made this trade rather than the trade for Bojan and Burks but I wish they would have saved their assets to fill a bigger role on the team with a better fit.
Edit: Not to say that the Knicks and specifically Thibs would not love to have Sexton coming off the bench because he is obviously the type of scoring guard that Thibs seems to love have in his "offense" but I would rather invest assets in improving the top end of the team and use smaller assets to fill the smaller roles.
