Portland/Sac

Immediately post draft:
Grant/Kris Murray
For
Barnes/Sasha/Picks
My question is…how many picks makes this works?
2025/2027 firsts?

Both FRP would work for me.

Would one first and some seconds do it?
Or protection on the later first, but converts to 2nds quickly (no more than 2 years)?

No.
Kris Murray is worth a late first now that he actually gets to play.
Grant is overpaid but brings useful spacing and is adequate defensively.
The SAC players are just salary.

I'd say '25 + '27 + Barnes for Grant works
Adding Kris just complicates things unnecessarily.

No... Not for me.
Also, from a technical matter, the trade would have to occur after the Draft in June to be able to convey the picks.

Would be great to see brothers on the same team.

It’d be like Harvey and Horace together… if they could shoot… and play questionable defense.

Yes, draft night deal.
Two firsts and Barnes for Grant should be a no go from Sac’s side. It’s takes Kris to be worth it.

I’d rather have Thybulle than Keegan’s brother if I was paying for a Blazer..
But I think Grant to Sac makes a ton of sense, maybe the most best destination now that PJ is a Maverick? I was playing with PJ to Sac, expirings and assets to Portland, and Grant to Dallas..
But PJ is so much fun to cheer for, the ups and downs are really more extreme than I pictured..
The OP - needs to be 2 firsts. But the later first can be decently protected IMO. Say a boring old school top 14, top 12 top 10, top 8, second? Or 3x top 8? Not sure but something like that.

I personally would include Kris and a second along with Grant for Barnes and the 25 and 27 firsts

Idk, I think if Sac was super high on Kris they would have tried to trade up in the draft instead of out. Never will know.
Still don't like Grant for his contract. I'd take him, but definitely not giving two picks.
With Keon our defense is soo much better. My focus would be on trading Barnes + Huerter + multiple years of picks for a true upgrade. Someone like Mikal, Lauri.

I think this works for both sides.
Blazers get the future draft assets and a damn good locker room veteran for the kids to watch in Barnes. Sasha, with some playing time, could be a shooter at some point a contender might want.
Sac gets effective forwards. And they keep Huerter to use in trade, which I would use to move up to the late first round to draft DaRon Holmes.
Sabonis/Len-Holmes
Grant/Lyles-Holmes
Murray/Murray/Duarte
Ellis/Monk/Duarte
Fox/Mitchell/Jones
This is a better mix of offense/defense than the current squad. The whole team is the on the same career arch. By the time it happens they are only out a pick that year and one two years out. Meaning, after a year there is still some optionality so they aren’t stuck.

Completely agree with this. There will be better targets/upgrades than Grant between now and the next deadline.

Yeah, I’m on board with this version for Portland.

If Barnes/Huerter/picks can get Sac a player at the PF clearly better than Grant and depth…do it. That’s likely the first option. It’s just hard to see who that player is. I’m not at all convinced it is Lauri. Mikal is a SF.

A lot needs to play out by the end of the season. Teams will move in different directions etc. Someone will shake loose.
I'm not sure if you invest 2 x firsts into Jerami Grant that you will get a return on that investment. IE it needs to either take the Kings to a championship or can you get more back in a trade down the line. I will be shocked if Monte pays full tilt.

It’s not two first for Grant. It’s two firsts for Grant and a rangy backup forward who is worth close to a late first by himself.

I would rather have Sasha moving forward TBH so I don't think that is a positive for the Kings.

He is mostly salary. Could be replaced if that’s the hang up.
