This is where I have every team ending up tax-wise... if you want me to explain how I got there, let me know, but otherwise just trust it and assume it's correct. Which owners wouldn't be okay with where they currently are?

Warriors will likely be under the luxury tax. The luxury tax line would be around 172 mils, and Warriors' payroll would be 144 mils (10 players signed) after waiving CP3. That will give about 28 mils room to resign Klay and fill the remaining roster with minimums. Lacob's plan is to go under the luxury tax too, so I think Warriors will try to reset the luxury tax.

Is there a reason you have the Cavs as an over-the-tax team?

I would GUESS that the Jazz won't be free agent players as they will look to renegotiate and extend Lauri instead. Not sure if this is pertinent to this thread or not. But, if you are trying to see who might be chasing free agents, you might want to know.

Darius Garland $36,725,670
Donovan Mitchell $35,410,310
Jarrett Allen $20,000,000
Caris LeVert $16,615,384
Max Strus $15,212,068
Evan Mobley $11,227,657
Georges Niang $8,500,000
Dean Wade $6,166,667
Ty Jerome $2,560,975
Sam Merrill $2,164,993
Craig Porter Jr. $1,891,857
24th Overall Pick $2,853,840

Isaac Okoro Cap Hold $11,828,974

Ricky Rubio Dead Cap $1,301,031

Total Salary $172,459,426
Cap Space -$30,459,426
Tax Space $140,574
1st Apron Space $7,140,574
2nd Apron Space $17,640,574

I have someone giving Okoro at least the $12.4 Million Non-Tax MLE and then even if Cleveland goes with just 14 roster spots filled, they'll still need a minimum player or two if they wanted 15.

I had Klay re-signing at an amount that put them just over the tax, but that could easily be fixed if their goal is to stay under.

Warriors desperately need to reset the luxury tax and get out of the insane luxury tax amount. If Warriors allow their salary to be just over the luxury tax, that means they have no clue how to manage the salary. Either they go over a significant amount of luxury tax line, or they would go under it. I don't see a scenario where they are like a few mil above the luxury tax line.

Klay's drop off this year sealed the deal IMO, he's become a negative player and with the new cap and their repeater tax situation, the fact Curry's clock is running out, unless some massive turnaround happens this season where they exit the play in and win a PO series when Klay contributes, they have to use MLE and BAE on fresh blood, use GPII and Moody's salary for upgrade, and bring him back on small salary or move away from him.

For Golden State.. I think they should look to add talent again this offseason.

Paul, 2025 unprotected (or top 4 for one year*), 2027 top 10 protected(x2) should be on the table. Moody as well..

It’s not Lauri without Kuminga, but it is Murray. It’s too much for Grant.. Paul matches Vucevic and Caruso if you want to go a different direction. There’s probably a WCJ/Cole trade in a similar mold.

Something. I wouldn’t just be running the team back and ducking the tax when Curry still looks to have an all-NBA year/run in him..

Blazers will do a deal to get under the tax, probably shipping out their vets.

Brogdon, Thybulle, Timelord and Grant will be on the market.

I would actually like the Raptors to make a play for Grant, where Blazers get to dump some salary and pickup some picks.

A 3 way:

Raps get Grant
3rd team gets Brown
Blazers get #31 pick (from Raps) + late 1st (from 3rd team)

If I'm the Wiz owner, I'm not ok with paying so much for so little on court production.

If I'm a Sixers fan, I ask myself where did it go so wrong that my team 10 years after the Process is still a cap-space team.

Good thread.

Even though I’m a Pistons fan, I’m watching that last category. Those teams may have wealthy owners, and they are “all in”, but if they don’t go far in the playoffs, they will need to make some big changes. Opportunities will come up this summer for the Pistons to take advantage with all their cap space.

Right. A mediocre outcome so far. Nailed it with Embiid, but missed on Simmons, trading JRue, Okafer, Fultz and added free agents and traded for max players that didn’t fit…Harris, Harden.

Its going to be time for Process part 2 in a a couple years.

Depending on how the lottery and draft go, I think there is a good chance that Toronto acts as an under the cap team by releasing Bruce Brown.

Brown is not playing up to his contract, doesn't fit that great with the style the coach is trying to play, and if Toronto can't get value for him on a draft-day trade -- they probably can't -- their best move is to just decline his team option.

Boston fans, you're the number one seed and the favorite to win the title. Isn't that where your focus should be?

Ressler is ok where he is at that bum refuses to want to pay to win even though he acts like he will go into the lux every year but always cuts people to stay under. Messy Ressy is straight trash and his son is helping ruin the team by putting his hands into all the decisions.

I guess it's playoff dependent, but if it looks like Okoro is getting an offer in excess of the Q.O., I'm calling the Blazers and seeing if we can take Thybulle into a TPE created by an Okoro S&T.

What would you offer for Thybulle in this scenario?
