You can add Andre Drummond to the list too. Hopefully the Bulls re-sign him.

If I'm OKC or the Spurs I see how much it costs to get Hartenstein or Drummond.

Drummond seems like a terrible fit with Wemby.

Why? He can rebound and do some of the dirty work. I know Drummond has his flaws, but he's having a good season and might not cost a big amount in free agency.

EDIT: Also, they won't always play at the same time.

Goga Bitadze will be an interesting name to watch. Outperformed his minimum contract and ORL already has WCJ, Isaac and Mo Wag at Center there. I'd like Goga as the Pels 20mpg starter if they can't get a major upgrade (Allen, Okongwu) or if Hartenstein goes off the board.

Think Jonas gets a 2 year deal like 32 or 3yr45. Could see a team giving him a bloated one year deal though. There are worse off seasons for OKC than giving Jonas a 2yr44 with second year unguaranteed. Salary matching for a star if they go that route, bully backups until trade eligible.. if OKC doesn’t add anyone highly paid and Giddey doesn’t develop, you might keep JV the second year..

Hartenstein And Smith probably get the full MLE if not a bit more. Could see either getting 3yr48 from a cap space team trying to top the MLE.

Claxton should get like 4yr92 probably maybe with a player option, but could see a team pushing that over 26 per year..

You think Smith and Drummond are MLE material? I doubt Drummond gets TPMLE.
Hartenstein is getting paid, he'll get higher than 20 unless he opts to stay put and re-sign with the Knicks who are limited in what they can offer.

I should have said “up to” or “within” MLE.

Regarding Claxton or Harternstein getting paid over the MLE, who is offering that?

Like Claxton getting in the 20's per year from Brooklyn wouldn't shock me but who else a) has the money b) needs a center and c) isn't planning on drafting one.

Teams like Charlotte and Detroit are covered at that spot. If Washington gets the right pick they are drafting Sarr.

I might be pissing someone but Im not sure which below the cap teams would be targeting a free agent big.

Wemby is like a huge human. Having another big body center clogging the paint just doesn't seem like the best route for the Spurs.

I think they need a center who can spread the floor. Someone like Brook Lopez would be great.

Toronto should be looking for another playable big, although I think they want a PF much more than a C

What is the point of "up to"? Drummond if he gets a contract will get one "up to" a 35% max. That doesn't say very much, does it?

Whatever man. Drum, JV, Smith are just roster fillers to me, unlike Claxton and Hartenstein.

OKC could sign Claxton. Give him 4yr90-92 front loaded so by the team Jalen/Chet get paid, he’s making 2yr41-42..

Orlando could upgrade from WCJ, or keep both bigs with 4-8 mpg overlap. Beautiful fit there and they have plenty of cap space to sign him and say Tyus? Would feel like an amazing offseason coming off a great season for Orlando.

Those two teams give Claxton the ability (not leverage but..) to get Brooklyn to work with over the cap teams for a sign and trade..

Memphis will be in the market and will have interest in both guy. Now Memphis will have to find a way to stay below the 1st apron to use the full MLE or work a SNT so it would not be a simple endeavor but is still a feasible path with some money management moves. Clax would likely have to come in closer to 20m to start for Memphis to make a SNT work money wise with out dumping a lot of extra salary and stay below the apron.

Brook Lopez is almost 36 years old. That's too old for the Spurs to go after him.

I'm not sure if there's a floor spacing big that might be available. Maybe Markkanen (who will cost a lot)...? But Markkanen isn't really someone who will do the dirty work that I mention above.

I understand the idea that Drummond would clog the lane, but don't think it'd be a problem. Two bigs have worked out before in the past and like I said they wouldn't always play at the same time.

However, I also mentioned Hartenstein. Maybe he'd be a better fit? Of course, he'll cost more.

Hartenstein would be a better option for sure. At least he's more active and willling to move around and set picks. Drummond is just a paint clogger imo.

Hey I’m wrong all the time but, I just don’t see a team that wouldn’t even offer a late first somehow spending 20m a year on a backup center.

And Orlando is loaded at the 5, with an obvious priority of using assets for upgrades at the guard spot.

I could be wrong but I’m just not sure that I see it.

Just a ton of good players making 10-15 so if you are making more than that the value has to be really clear.
