Darius Garland trade value

Darius Garland is having a down year this year, but had two very good years previously. If the Cavs decide that Mitchell and Garland can't play together (and that Mitchell should be the full time PG), how much could they get for Darius Garland in a trade?

This would have to be a player for player type of deal. The Cavs are not going to trade Garland for picks.

I think, as usual with Garland trades, Pels should be all over this.
Ingram+
OR
McCollum + Murphy+

AD + Reaves + Vincent
FOR
Garland + Allen + Strus
AD can mentor Mobley - should have enough years in him to let Mobley bulk up and be ready for full time center.
Lakers get James a full time legit PG - which he seems to thrive with.

I could go an entire rant here about who has been playing alongside Garland since the all star break, but I'll refrain. Garland's value to the Cavs, and/or Mitchell, will be determined in the playoffs.

How do people feel about
Cavs get: Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac, picks
Magic get: Darius Garland
How many picks do the Magic need to add to balance this (I would think 2029 and 2031 picks and a 2030 swap?)? And where could the Cavs send those picks for another good wing to go along with Suggs?

Wouldnt do this even without the picks. The Magic are the 2nd best defensive team in the NBA largely because of Suggs and Isaac. Suggs is still just scratching the surface of his potential.

I wouldn't even consider it. Suggs is the heart of the Magic. JI is the DPOY-type big. I don't think the magic would have what the Cavs would want for Darius unless they were going to go into a full rebuild again and were interested in picks and young prospects like Anthony Black and Jett Howard.

... Isaac plays 15 MPG and this is the first time he's played basketball in four years, is this a joke.

Mikal Bridges + Cam Johnson for Garland?

The big problem with trading Garland is the Cavs would need a lot of things that Garland brings-- self-creation, playmaking, spacing, team control. Bridges or Murphy + McCollum sounds nice, but I just don't think the deal is going to be out there that the Cavs would pull the trigger on even if they're willing to trade him.
I'd be more welcoming to a "no, seriously, we're ALL the way in" kind of move like Garland + Mobley (+ 2024 1st + 2031 1st + 2030 swap) for Luka deal, if Luka's tired of toiling in Dallas.

It’s one of those ‘if you know, you know’ type of things. Even some magic fans still don’t get it.
The Orlando Magic have a record of 31-17 with Jonathan Isaac this season.

It’s not a joke. This is his first year back and the team is purposely limiting his minutes but there is not doubt that he is a MAJOR part of the Magic currently slotted for home court advantage in the playoffs and being in contention for the #3 seed this late into the season (1.5 games back of 3rd).

I agree. The Cavs are much more likely to trade Mitchell if he doesn’t resign. Recoup some assets that you traded away for him and continue building around the rest of the core.

If the season ends poorly, and if the guard play is the reason, and if Mitchell extends… Garland would still be a young star locked up, get a really strong return and Cleveland would likely need to involve a third team turning picks to players.

Okay cool, so there's like no chance whatsoever he can ever be a significant minutes guy again.

Magic do not trade Suggs straight up for Garland.
They would not trade him straight up for DM or EM either.
That assessment is not to get Cav fans to increase the offer.
I like (and I believe that the Magic org sees the same thing) Suggs as an NBA player better than any player on the cavs when considering the vector of improvement he has made since his rookie year.
One wonders when the improvement vector will level off.
He has had a great year so far and the last month has been his best month.

Ignorance is bliss.
EPM has Suggs better than every player on Cle other than Mitchell.
That passes the eye test.
I like Mitchell, I don't like his contract situation.

Alright, then the Cavs will trade you Sam Merrill for Paolo Banchero because his EPM is higher.
