DAL / PDX Offseason Deal

Portland Trades
Matisse Thybulle GF
Jabari Walker JR FC
Dallas Trades
Josh Green GF
Future SRP
WHY FOR PORTLAND
They move an older, made-for-a-winning-team guy in Matisse and clear their 'young forward with meh upside' glut while getting a younger guy in Green (Who ideally can slide in at backup GF once Simons and/or Grant are also moved) and a SRP.
WHY FOR DALLAS
They tried to sign Thybulle last summer and he seems like a great low usage fit for them + they snag a swing big who can play PF and C and slots well as a 3rd stringer.
G - Kyrie Irving / Dante Exum / Jaden Hardey
G - Luka Doncic / Tim Hardaway JR / Jaden Hardey
F - Derrick Jones JR / Matisse Thybulle / Olivier Maxwell-Prosper
F - PJ Washington / Maxi Kleber / Jabari Walker JR
C - Dereck Lively II / Daniel Gafford / Dwight Powell

Take out the 2nd from Dallas, and if PDX values Walker they can keep him too. Nothing about this warrants Dal giving up a 2nd

No thanks from POR.
Green is nothing special (neither is Walker). Thybulle might be more valuable to a contender.

It's a NO for Dallas.
We already found DJJ as our guy for the "Thybulle" role, no need to add another non threat on offense. I'd rather use Green and try to find a trade for a starter wing and a 6th man using THJ/Hardy/O-Max/Green/picks.

Agree. Not sure there is enough value for either team

I don’t get it for Portland. Green may have the most value, but Blazers don’t need another G. Walker isn’t untouchable by any means, but he is a young hustle big that seems mature for his age and just seems like a good culture guy that fits a need (I imagine him being a Grant Williams style role player in the future that does little things beyond the stat sheet). I’d rather shop Thybulle for different young players/assets, and keep Walker unless there is a trade that makes more sense to give him up for

Nail on the head. No more of this stop gap, stating SF by committee thing we have going on.

If the Mavs fail to retain DJJ, then I could see a deal like this (or Bruce Brown from TOR), but highest priority is retaining DJJ, his POA defense is the most needed for the team and they are somehow managing with his limited offense.
As a side not, if Mavs were to deal for Thybulle, it'd be Dwight Powell + 2 2nds, this way Blazers save 7 millions that help them duck tax, and Mavs don't lose guard depth.

Not interested in Powell or SRP.
