MAVS
In:Caruso/Clarkson
Out:Hardy/THJ/Mavs25/2 SRP..

Mavs get the Dallas native and 3rd in points avoided in the league (the only guard), an elite defender... who would fit perfectly as a missing piece in the Mavs' 3-guard lineup. They change Clarkson for Tim, he should be a big improvement, in the 6 man...Who is a much more complete player

Gafford/Lively
PJ/Maxi/O-Max
Luka/DJJ/Green
AC/Clarkson
KI/Exum

BULLS
In:Mavs25(unprotected)/Hardy/2 SRP
Out:Caruso

It was rumored that the BULLS wanted at least 2 FRP for AC at the deadline...with only one year left on his contract they get a guard prospect in Hardy + 1 unprotected FRP and some SRP...the question would be...is anyone over this offer?

JAZZ
In:THJ
Out:Clarkson

They help their guy go to a contender, while his contract expires.. Tim will have the courage at the deadline to trade him back

The Jazz part of this is fine.

The Caruso part of this makes sense for Dallas. Not sold on THJ for Clarkson, but I'd consider it if shedding salary was a necessary component for Chicago and there were no better place to offload THJ. I think the Mavs have to add Powell outgoing to avoid getting hard capped at the first apron (if they take back more than 110% of outgoing salary, correct???).

Yeah. I do either of these trades for Dallas I think?

Seems good for the other teams. IMO that’s more than Caruso is worth, but maybe I’m off.

I think we can get a late 1st, or multiple 2nds for Clarkson which I would much prefer to THJ.

Yah, Clarkson had a bad year so as much as I'd want to try to get an asset somewhere, I'd be pretty happy to send him to a good team and just get the savings.

It would come with bad salaries instead of expirings though

I think bad salaries with assets is better for us than expirings.

Agreed will likely have one of the lowest salaries next year either way.

I think the talk of 2 FRPs for Caruso was to stop people from calling with junk offers. He' worth more than last year as he has really stepped up his 3 point shooting. One of the teams with a stockpile of picks might have been willing to give up 2 but only for 2 years left on his contract not 1 and 25 games.

I like the trade. don't love it. The pick has to be unprotected and the 2nds are needed. If Hardy was a PF or even a SF it would be much better, it's no big gain for the Bulls to replace AC with another guard. He seems like he might be a better shooter than Dalen Terry but is he a match to the defense and hustle that Terry brings?

Maybe the Bulls would want O-Max then? The boy was chosen at the end of the first round and although he has not had minutes (obviously raw and the Mavs contending) in the NBA...his development has been even better than expected...he was chosen for his size, energy and skills in On the defensive side the questions were about his offense and especially shooting 3p...well he averaged +18 points and shot above 42% from 3...in the G-leagues of course...but it is encouraging... How the Mavs value O-Max or how the Bulls would value him is an interesting question.

Could still send THJ for assets and bad money

Obviously true but that is harder to execute because you have less valid time to do a trade. A third team could also be looped in, etc. Regardless, I'd take this if offered and I didn't have other offers, but I have to imagine something better for pur situation would materialize.

Problem is Mavs can’t trade that pick, only have 25 & 26 1st available.

1st and 2nds is fine for Caruso imo. I’d also want a PF. Need to be some more tweaks as above it does put them into the next cap level.
