No one is happy: John Collins to Sacramento

UTA trades: John Collins, 2024 OKC 1st (27)
UTA receives: Sasha Vezenkov, 2027 BRK/DAL 2nd (more favorable), 2029 MIL 2nd
Utah rectifies their mistake in the Collins trade. In the end, a year of Collins will have cost a second and a late first. He's just not a good fit on the team and never was, so it's time to move off the money and open minutes for younger players who fit. In the past this is the kind of trade that would drive us insane (e.g., dumping Favors with a first), but now we are in a different position with assets and this gives us space to both renegotiate and extend Lauri AND try to poach some free agent talent that fits long-term or is flippable for assets later.
SAC trades: Kevin Huerter, Chris Duarte, Sasha Vezenkov
SAC receives: John Collins, 2024 OKC 1st (27)
Sacramento gets a F/C who can play off of Sabonis and provide a bit of secondary rim protection. As I describe Collins: unexceptional but competent. An unexceptional but competent guy could really help their frontcourt rotation. They also add the chance for some cheap talent with a late first (after trading their own for Huerter).
DET trades: 2027 BRK/DAL 2nd (more favorable), 2029 MIL 2nd
DET receives: Kevin Huerter, Chris Duarte
Detroit absorbs salary but adds some shooters on the wing to help space the floor, something they've needed pretty desperately. This is far from a home run, but seems like a reasonable use of space since Huerter and Duarte are 25 and 26, respectively.
