Hypothetical: 1 + ??? for Scoot

Let's say a team lucks out with the first pick in the draft and they need a point guard of the future. Is anyone willing to add to the first pick to get Scoot? Obviously Portland having him available would be a bit of a red flag, but I think teams are probably more willing to move guys for the right value than we think, it's just rare it gets offered. Scoot obviously had a dissapointing rookie season, but has shown flashes.

On behalf of the Jazz, I'd offer:
George or Kessler + 1 + maybe some smaller incentive

If I'm the Blazers, I'm calling in George and 1 and not looking back.

I know this draft is weak at the top but this seems like going too far. Scoot really struggled this season and while there's some reason for hope I'm not sure he has the value of a top-10 pick in a typical draft.

That's a good offer. I think Blazers keep him though unless they didn't like his personality

Scoot had a lot of nagging injuries and never seemed to get into any groove until late in the season.

He really seems like a great guy, a player who wants to be a good player. Doubtful any team would offer what Portland would want and there does not seem to be any one guy who will project to be a star in the league. It didn't help Shaedon Sharpe missed most of the second half of the season and that he got mediocre coaching

I wouldn’t add anything to the first overall pick.

It’s up to Portland to decide if they like anyone from this class more than him. If Scoot the 2023 prospect were in this class he’d be the consensus first overall pick, but that was then and this is now with one less year of control.

This wouldn’t be a Brand for Chandler type of deal either. Brand was already putting up 20 & 10. Scoot hasn’t shown anything yet.

I wouldn't give up #1 pick for Scoot, let alone anything on top. I'd rather have Dillingham, Sheppard or Castle than him, maybe even Devin Carter too.

For Scoot McGroot, you give up the first and take the stellar CBA knowledge and solid posting.

For Scoot Henderson, no, you keep the pick and scoff at any mention of adding to it.

Portland already has two first round picks in this draft. Right now #4 and 14. Why would they need another?

I imagine they still believe in Scoot.

Post allstar break Scoot has started to put it together. I don't see Portland moving off him.

3.5 rpg
.402 FG
.350 3pt

Month of April:

Realistically it's way too early for the Blazers to even think about dealing Scoot. He was looking rough most of the season but it's to be expected from rookies esp at the PG position.

Kessler + #1 seems like a fair enough offer on paper although the Blazers already have a good chance to land a top 3-4 pick and there is no consensus top pick this year. Simons and George seem a bit redundant so not sure how much interest Portland would have there. Blazers would be better off to keep Scoot and use their current picks to draft 2 more kids from this year's lottery and hopefully hit on at least one.

To Hornets: Towns

To Blazers: 24 Hornets 1st

To Wolves: Scoot

Wolves can get Grant Williams or Jermai Grant. Robert Williams as an option too as backup big. End result, Wolves have PGOF in Scoot - who has 1 year NBA development under his belt - so little more ready to help Wolves win-now. Scoot gets to be mentored by Conley which should help his NBA career.

I would take any of those including Collier other than Sheppard.
Making a trade involving Henderson, Portland has to add not receive compensation.
With Portland’s picks, they could land any of those, plus would have the first to get their top valued player, a their PG of choice, and even get a third lottery pick.
In the OPs scenario, Portland would get an addition pick/players. Do it in a heartbeat.

I see Scoot as worth less than he was last draft... He's been unboxed and is no longer mint (ie his rookie season wasn't strongly impressive, is he in anyone's top 10 rookies?), and he's burned a year of cost controlled rookie contract. So, IMO, the proposed trade should look like

#1 for Scoot +???

A better question might be which is worth more.

Yeah, so as a Jazz fan I'd rather have Nikola Topic than Scoot. Jazz probably aren't going to take the ball out of Keyonte's hands to give it to Scoot either. So now how valuable is Scoot when he's playing off the ball?

This idea is probably a non-starter for the Jazz.
