Tyler Herro and Lottery Protected Miami Heat 2030 First Round Draft Pick (obligation extinguished if not conveyed) for T.J. McConnell and Jalen Smith (signed and traded to a 4 year contract starting at $12.5 Million)

-After losing Buddy Hield at the trade deadline (and McConnell in this trade plus possibly McDermott), this gives the Pacers a nice shooter off the bench to mix it up with their guard rotation for essentially T.J. McConnell and a guy they would lose anyway in free agency in Smith plus they potentially get a first round pick.

-If Miami had a 14-man roster with three two-way players, they would be under the tax outright with this move while retaining Bam/Jimmy plus Jovic/JJJ/15th Overall. McConnell is a nice veteran piece of the bench that should be a nice fit with the culture and Smith would be a nice compliment to Bam.

I don't see this for Miami at all. Why would we give a future first for this? Hell, even having it tied up until 2030 is a negative for us.

Its a big no for Miami, even without that 2030 FRP.
Its the Heat who needs to be compensated.

Also, Miami probably would have issues being hard capped at the first apron by receiving a player via sign and trade, no?

I guess it depends whose there at #15 and how Toronto feels about Herro mainly his deal and fit with Quickley. If Eddy is there and Toronto got #1 or #2 and took Sarr maybe I could see them taking a flyer on Herro. If they give San Antonio their pick this year I don't see why Toronto moves Poeltl and #31 just to get another mid pick. They need a C after this unless they want to play Boucher and Olynik and tank for Bailey or Flagg

I don't see why we'd do that, either. I believe Herro should probably have enough value that we don't have to drop in the draft to make it happen.

Am I missing something? Does Herro suck? Why why why would MIA add a pick or even entertain this?
