2. Miami signs 3 two-way contracts and just carries a 14-man roster

I would think getting at least below the 1st Apron would be a goal even if they remained above the tax, but how would they reduce $5.1 Million?

Also, keep in mind, you need to add a minimum salary if you free up a roster spot.

Pat Riley will always prioritize winning than payroll.
If the Heat will reduce their payroll, its a deal that will not affect their chance of winning.

Herro and 15 for Keldon?

I mean, knowing Heat fans on RealGM, Herro is worth some all-NBA/all-star player despite not being one. So, I don't see Heat fans buying on to any pure salary dump moves.

But realistically, Rozier+1st/2nd for a cheaper version of Rozier is probably the smart move financially. Similar to the Suns shaving something like $15M pre-tax trading Ayton for Nurkic.

Not seeing anything from Portland. Best I can come up with is a Rozier+Jovic+2nd for Brogdon trade. But that would put Portland over the tax, so they would need to move Timelord for cap space, possibly with incentive. None of this really makes sense for Portland. And I don't see why Miami would sell low on Jovic. And if they were willing to, that's a red flag. So, Portland is probably not a destination.

Trading Rozier to a team who misses our on Free Agency makes the most sense.

We already know whoever Miami drafts at #15 comes in and competes.

The logical move is Herro, where we send him out and get smaller, more moveable pieces.

Miami's paid the tax like 3 times in the last 10 years. This year will be the first time Miami's in the luxury tax since the Bubble.

That’s probably correct, though I can see where trading Rozier could make sense if they want to cut costs. I think you can get an equal player for much cheaper.

Yeah second this. Miami has done a really good job identifying rookies that can contribute (JJJ, Jovic). Giving up a cheap piece to make a lateral move talent-wise seems like a suboptimal way to keep costs down while trying to compete, and it's not like Herro is some awful contract they would need to pay to move.
