Might get flamed for this, but another variation of Mitchell to LA where the Cavs get a couple of their picks back.
LAL In: Mitchell
LAL Out: Reaves, Rui, JHS, #17, 2029 1st, 2031 1st, 2026 swap, 2028 swap (all picks/swaps are unprotected)
Lakers go all-in to get a scoring guard. They keep defensive guys like Vando & Vincent and can maybe S&T DLO for someone else
UTA In: 2029 LAL 1st, 2031 LAL 1st, 2026 LAL swap (also Lakers unprotect the 2027 1st that is currently top-4 protected)
UTA Out: 2027 CLE 1st, 2029 CLE 1st
Not sure if Jazz are getting enough value here (or if it's too much). I'd think CLE firsts are more valuable than LAL 1sts.
CLE In: Reaves, Rui, JHS, #17, 2027 CLE 1st, 2029 CLE 1st, 2028 LAL swap (UTA gets best of 3 picks, CLE gets 2nd best)
CLE Out: Mitchell
Maybe the Cavs want an extra swap here, but they're giving up some value to getting their picks back

It's the best offer Lakers could make there but the depth after is tragically bad even with a D'lo S&T

There are obvious advantages to getting your own picks back, but I still think the Nets are able to put together a better offer.
I'm also a little skeptical that Mitchell's *list* is the same as it was 2 years ago. I'm not sure he's going to agree to extend with the Lakers, Clippers, or Heat in 2024. Maybe he extends for a couple years, but signing up for three or four years? There are good reasons for him not to do that.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Re: LAL/UTA/CLE - Another version of Mitchell to LA
I think Cleveland would take LAL’s picks here not their own?
They would be building around Garland/Mobley/Allen. Who will all be in their primes in 2027, and hopefully still on the roster and in their primes in 2029..
Mitchell/AD would be great for a few years, but in 2028 you’re looking at 65-70% of your cap to 35 year old AD and 32 year old Mitchell.. Or you’re retooling with no assets? I’ll bank on LAL stumbling a retool for at least one of the 2028-2031 seasons. And I’d imagine most teams would feel the same.
Those picks are much better assets IMO, understanding LAL will probably sign a star free agent one offseason and be back as contenders.. But just need one down year out of the 4 coming off a long contending run..
I think Brooklyn tops this offer, but this makes Brooklyn offer more than their fans want to.

Nah, like 10% of the guys drafted can step onto the court and meaningfully contribute on a good team.
