Brook Lopez and 21st Overall Pick to the Thunder
33rd Overall Pick to the Pistons
Quentin Grimes and 12th Overall Pick to the Bucks

Thunder get a great fitting veteran center to move down in the draft.
Pistons add an early 2nd for Grimes because they have enough depth at guard.
Bucks add a defensive guard to help in the back-court, save some money and add a lotto pick

Taking Brook into cap space and dropping from 12-21 seems like a rather big overpayment here. But OKC is the one team that can swallow that if they really want him and this is what it takes. I think they pass at this cost, Brook's age just cannot be ignored here.

Good enough to do it without 21?
Doubt Bucks go that way, it's step 1 in a blow-up.

I can't see Detroit doing that because I think they view Grimes as part of the future

Deals don’t need to fix everything.. But Milwaukee is one of the last teams in the league that would value “12 and cap space” IMO. Especially when losing their starting center, this deal puts way too much defensive pressure on Giannis.

I’d do it if I’m MIL if I see a natural Lopez replacement at 12, maybe if they like Filipowski but he’s not the rim protector Brook is. So I think for them I’d pass and just run it back one more time to see if these guys can stay healthy and have anything left in the tank for one more run.

OKC might pass too, they seem to be intent on Chet being a full time 5 and Jaylin Williams has been a good backup. Think it’ll be more important for them to have a cheap contributor on a rookie deal in a few years

A move like this would be a precursor to more moves. This removes us from flirting with the 2nd apron and gives us a more widely attractive/movable asset in #12 to combine with guys like Portis/Pat and potentially our '31 1st for a bigger fish.

I am intrigued to see OKC fans into the idea. Brook/Chet would be amazing together, and what better mentor for Chet than Brook moving forward.

Yeah or Middleton and 12 for like Dejounte Murray or something.

Don't see them moving Khris after he proved he's still a killer in the playoffs. But yeah, it just gives us more flexibility in the trade market. Bobby+Pat+12+'31 1st nets a pretty damn solid player, theoretically.

What about instead of 33 Overall for Grimes, you trade 33 Overall for Poeltl and just keep 12 and hope you can get a Maxey kind of guy to grow with Giannis quickly.

FYI - I have that range as

Rk Player Name ESPN Pos. Height The Ringer Style Comp

11 Ja'Kobe Walter SG 6'5 Khris Middleton
12 Ron Holland SF 6'7 Harrison Barnes/Josh Jackson
13 Isaiah Collier PG 6'4 Tyreke Evans/Emmanuel Mudiay
14 Tidjane Salaun PF 6'10 Chandler Parsons

So...

Brook, 23 and 33 for Poeltl and 12

I could see them valuing resetting the contract raise.

I think Poeltl would be a really solid get. Obviously not an ideal fit next to Giannis, but a great backup if you slide Giannis to the starting 5. If all it takes is 33, I'm all for it.

Doesn't feel like the class to hope for a guy to grow quickly with Giannis, nor has our scouting proven to be adept in draft talent evaluation. In theory, though, yeah, it could be a fruitful risk to extend the window. More likely that pick is on the table for another immediate difference maker and depth.

Brook is expiring and he's 36. Easy pass for a team that just drafted Cason at 10 and JDub at 12.

No thanks for OKC
