I think this is a really good hire.

Know nothing about him but his resume looks impressive

This is way better than the kind of re-tread they have hired in the past. Maybe he fails, but you don't know you are hiring the 27th best coach upfront like in years past.

our new owners have seemed to prioritize youth in our hires. our VP of Basketball OPs is like 33. So I wasn't really worried about a re-tread. I don't think we interviewed a single coach that had head coaching experience. But seriously, even the 27th best head coach is 3 levels above Steve Clifford, so this is a great day.

Congratulations to Hornets fans, this seems like a solid hire. He has a great resume and is young.

This is like drafting the high upside one and done that can either burst out or flame out over the slow and steady 4 year college senior that’s able to come in off the bench for you as 13th or 14th man.


Worth the upside risk for a team like Hornets who are nowhere close to contention.
