What would need to be added to balance the trade? Assumption is Mitchell re-signs with the Cavs.

Magic send F. Wagner
Cavs send Garland

Who gets picks, additional players, filler?

I think a wagner/ingles/anthony for garland trade has legs if orlando can sign PG13 in FA

Im not trading Wagner to the Cavs unless its for Mitchell and he's committed to re-signing. The Magic can use their other assets to get a guard.

Why trade Franz when you have other assets and/or money to acquire a guard?

Additionally, why trade your best asset that can be a centerpiece of a superstar trade for Darius Garland?

It’s good value for Orlando. Cleveland wouldn’t add IMO.

If Mitchell resigns in Cleveland, I like this deal a lot.

Yeah, Orlando could trade 3-?? picks for a guard.. But Garland is young and locked up for four years.. pretty ideal. So use assets to replace Wagner if you need to use Wagner to get garland.

I think it’s harder to find a 6’10, 2-way Franz than a 6’1 Darius…DG is really good, but pass for ORL

Garland's value has to be very low right now, a mid season followed by an even midder playoffs so far.

Agree...Garland's a tremendous talent and ORL would love to have him, but Mitchell's ferocity just dwarfed Garland in the playoffs against a physical ORL. They advanced, but I'd be concerned that Mitchell was not impressed by having to lift them on his shoulders to such a degree. Mitchell outscoring the entire CLE roster in one game isn't exactly inspiring to him (I would think).

Wagner's not going anywhere, but ORL and CLE could definitely talk about Allen. If Mitchell wants out, CLE might be better long-term, even if it's a temporarily painful blow...Mobley IS a Center and Garland might become more of a Mitchell - without Mitchell. Kind of like CJ/Dame situation. Mitchell and Allen could bring back a lot of young pieces and picks for a rebuild on the fly with Mobley and Garland as the well-matched foundation pieces. Right now, they've got two pairs of twins who really don't complement each other very well, despite tremendous cumulative talent (and salary).

I'd counter with an offer of Mitchell for Wagner, Ingles, Black, and this year's Orland pick (around 18, I believe?). Then try to move up with 18 and 20 to around 9 to 12ish? No idea how Orlando fans feel about that...

I was thinking about Garland to Orlando but after watching playoff series there is no scenario in which i trade Wagner for Garland. Market is overflooded with smaller guards whose teams underachieve and there is no two way forwards. No value added outside another great forward will make Orlando trade Franz.

Which guard would you target and which assets would you use?

Franz isn't being traded for a soon-to-be FA with eyes for NY. Let alone also including Black.

General question, what IS the value of a 1-yr rental, all-nba, soon-to-be FA? CERTAINLY it isn't what the Cavs gave up to get him originally.

Go to the ORL boards...that's all we do.

Mine are...

1) Dejounte
2) Simons
3) Monk...maybe easiest to get with strictly $$ and SAC unable to match

4) Brogdon, Tyus Jones

unlikely they get him but add Paul Geroge to the list. Sexton, D-Lo, and CJ Mccollum are also options

People need to look at the advanced stats for Franz. He's top 30 in trade value at this point.
