Dejounte Revisited

So between Risacher/Sarr and Jalen... The Hawks have their fowards of the future.

Rumors are they are going to trade one of Murray or Trae. I have them keeping and building around Trae.

Trae had an interview not long ago where he mentioned winning was the most important thing to him. Given that case, I don't see the Hawks keeping Trae just to turn around and trade Murray for picks.

So, find a veteran center or defensive SG to fill out the Hawks line-up via a Dejounte Murray trade. You can include anyone else besides #1, Jalen or Trae in the deal.

#1 shouldn’t be off limits.

Hawks should be shopping them together.

To SAS for #8? Hawks draft a 2/3 there.

Yeah, but which team has a player worth that and aren't just trying to contend themselves?

Part of OP is it has to be a veteran... preferably at center or a defensive SG

I feel like at this point I might just try to keep it together and hope the third player fixes it. Can always pivot at the trade deadline?

I don’t think this changes the Ingram potential at all.

I don’t think think stops Atlanta from adding a star and keeping both Murray and Trae.

1st, Sac first, 2029 Atlanta first keep the 2031 first out of it.

Stagger Murray/Trae if you want, go get Caruso using other value.

But Murray is locked up on a deal that lets Atlanta afford another 25-30 million dollar guy and be affordable even once Jalen gets paid.

I’m surprised we are seeing Atlanta blow it up versus Atlanta shortsighted trade for KD or Jimmy type deals..

If they draft Sarr...

B. Ingram and L. Nance Jr, to ATL
D. Hunter to SAS
D. Murray and Z. Collins to NOP

Sarr/Jalen/Ingram/Bogdan/Trae

You would probably need to get a defensive SG for Capela too.

You’re right it’s a tough market for stars.

Maybe they jump into the Mitchell sweepstakes? Can Murray and Garland coexist?

If it’s Ingram, the lottery changed nothing for me for Atlanta, besides adding Sarr and letting him hopefully develop into Mobley or whoever..

Capela and Murray to NOP
Liddell, 21st, future Atlanta 2nd if needed to Chicago
Ingram and Caruso to Atlanta

OO/Sarr/MLE
Jalen/Sarr
Ingram/Hunter
Caruso/Bogdan
Trae/Kobe

Add a second or something to NOP from Atlanta. But maybe everyone is right about Ingram.

(Ingram+Liddell+delaying 21st to count as salary should match Capela/Murray, right? Let NOP keep Nance, right?)

I like the template... who are some guys available like Caruso besides Caruso himself?

Not sure why it wouldn’t be Caruso, I’d pay a big asking price to put him in between Trae and Ingram..

But if he is not available.. I’ll go Thybulle is very available.

Probably lets Atlanta get 21 and Portland clears their tax issues and settles for seconds..but I’ll go;

Thybulle, Ingram, 34 to Atlanta
Capela, Murray to NOP
Liddell and 21 to Portland

Portland tax problems go away and upgrade a draft prospect.

I just have the Bulls likely running it back (incorrectly so) in real life.

The Thybulle version is threadworthy... is there a future 1st NOP could trade instead? The Blazers have a lot of picks in this draft

Portland would be upgrading one of the seconds here. And they’ll likely trade 40 for future picks. Three rookies isn’t too many for a tanking team.

NOP might not want to tie up picks long term here, but could be a lottery protected 2025 first instead. Or Atlanta deals the Sac first to Portland and gets 21?

Eh.

Top 14 protected for 3 years more likely IMO.

I don’t have the gap between Ingram and Murray very wide at all.

ATL sends: Murray, Capela, Hunter
ATL gets: Wendell Carter, Jerami Grant, Malcolm Brogdon, ORL 25 frp

POR sends: Malcolm Brogdon, Jerami Grant
POR gets: Deandre Hunter, Anthony Black, tons of cap relief

ORL sends: Wendell Carter, Anthony Black, ORL 25 frp
ORL gets: Capela, Murray

Hawks get:
Brandon Ingram
Matisse Thybulle

Pelicans get:
Dejounte Murray
Clint Capela

Trail Blazers get:
E.J. Liddell
2025 Top 20 Protected New Orleans Pelicans First Round Draft Pick (2026 - Lottery Protected / 2027 - Lottery Protected or becomes 2030 and 2031 2nds)

???

Something like that. I’d rather it with Caruso. And think Portland owes 34 to Atlanta. Thybulle isn’t worth a first.

Atlanta should only do it if Ingram is resigning. Someone else pointed out the CBA allows 20% jumps in extend-and-trades now. Ingram could take a 4yr170ish contract. But even if he just agrees to add 2 years.

Can’t trade a good contract for an expiring one when the talent is so comparable IMO.

Murray + #1

FOR

Johnson + #8

How many Hawks owed picks can Atlanta get in that deal?

This would be amazing for Spurs. Murray to lead the win-now team, and picks #1 and #4 to build long-long term juggernaut around Wemby.

Wemby
Sarr (#1)
Sochan
Vassell
Murray | (Topic? #4)
