Donovan Mitchell to the Nets, Lakers, Heat or Rockets?

Let's say the Nets, Lakers, Heat and Rockets are the Mitchell suitors with the best offers (as Windhorst suggests)

What would they offer?

Which would the Cavs accept if Mitchell wanted one of those markets?

Lakers presumably would offer everything they have outside of LeBron and AD. Not enough, but that's their offer.

Rockets are interesting. What would they be willing to offer?

I bet Cleveland would prefer the Tate/Jeff Green/Landale expirings over Brooks if doing so enhanced the more picks portion.

Brooklyn has the ability to make the best offer. Whether they will remains another matter.

I just don’t see the Heat or Lakers having the ammo.

Depends on where the picks portion is to begin with. Dillon is a solid player, not trying to dump him necessarily so don't assign a ton of value to that, they just don't really need him with Amen, Tari, Jabari, Cam splitting up the 3-4 minutes

I dont see the rockets get rid of green. It defeats the purpose.

I think Houston could make a better offer depending on Cleveland's perception of Jalen Green.

Green is a bad fit with Garland. Can Green/Brooks/2026 Brooklyn first get the Cavs Ingram?

Windhorst saying they will puts me in a pretty confident position they will make a strong offer. One of the Net beat reporters today put out there that Cleveland was one of the teams that put an offer on Cam Thomas after his rookie year, if CLE likes him and wants draft picks, that puts the Nets in a really strong position.

My guess at a Net offer is same as it's been for a while:

1 young roster player on rookie deal (presumably CamT)
+ 3 FRPs (1 of them a PHO pick between 27-29)
+ CLE preference on salary filler (CamJ or Schroder+DFS)

If Cleveland can get Thomas, some rotation players, and some futures that can help convert into someone like Ingram, that seems like a really strong pivot off Mitchell if he won't extend there.

Also... I asked other Cavs fans but under the premise of Mitchell being traded, would you just rebuild?

I could see the Nets giving you all of their picks in the following deal...

Ingram (extended) and Mitchell to Nets

Claxton/Cam/Ingram/Bridges/Mitchell

Simmons, DFS, Cam Thomas, Schroder and all the Nets picks to Cavs

Mobley/DFS/Okoro/Thomas/Garland

Trae and Griffin to Pelicans

Center via McCollum Trade/Zion/Murphy/Jones/Trae

Jarrett Allen, LeVert, Nance Jr. and 3 unprotected 1sts via NOP to Hawks

Allen/Sarr/Jalen/Bogdan/Dejounte

What would you want in return? With and without Bridges included.

Seems overly complex. Not sure Nets will want to sell the farm for Ingram either.

I think the Nets are going to be very in on Mitchell, but with 7 (or more?) tradeable FRPs will hold some for a next move more down the road.

One Net fan on the board had an interesting idea that if the Nets add Mitchell I think will come true because it's too funny not to.

1. Nets get Mitchell this summer without giving up all of the PHO picks (they have 4 left, 25, 27, 28 swap, 29).
2. Phoenix is still struggling at the deadline, Nets offer PHO their remaining picks back for KD.

In the NBA nowadays it seems like we can just imagine whatever the most absurd outcomes are and those are the ones that end up happening.

If we are right that extensions can be 120%.. Mitchell agrees to an extension? Or is that out due to the player option? He’d have to opt in and sacrifice 10 million dollars? Or could he opt out a year early and extend?

Questions only a few know the answer to and I’m not one.

Houston has a better offer than Brooklyn due to Brooklyn being bad now versus Phoenix (most likely) being bad later. And Houston has a roster around him while Brooklyn likely needs a follow up?

But would Houston throw every if at Mitchell if he is not extension eligible and wants to be in NY or Miami?

Houston isn’t a small market though it’s not a big market and it’s not a fun city to live or drive in… (I’m just a random poster that grew up in Plano, there’s no bias)

Cavs need to demand the 2027 and 2029 PHX firsts. Nets can keep Thomas. If the Cavs can’t get both of those picks then I would be out. The Nets don’t have much that interests me outside of those PHX picks. Cam Johnson and DFS would be the filler for Cleveland. Cavs might try to get Clowny as well, and maybe they could depending on what other teams offer.

1 year of Mitchell without a guarantee to re-sign isn't that valuable IMO. The Cavs aren't going to get back similar value to what they gave up.

What would you need in addition to Green, 3 and Brooks from Houston if the '27 and '29 Suns 1sts were off the table from Brooklyn?

How high could Cleveland get using Green and 20?
