I'm so sorry jay POR/DET/DAL

Also sorry to Blazer fans who won't like this valuation on Thybulle(though I believe it to be fair).

This is obviously a take on jay's attempts to shed enough salary from Dallas to open up MLE for Jones Jr.

Deal only happens if Detroit is unable to sign the free agents they really like in free agency. This is definitely not plan A for them to be clear. Plus Dallas has to wait a year to trade for Thybulle

Portland trades Thybulle
Portland gets: 25 TOR 2nd, 27 DET 2nd/28 MIA 2nd

Detroit trades: 27 DET 2nd
Detroit gets THJ/Prosper

Dallas trades: THJ/Prosper/25 TOR 2nd/28 MIA 2nd
Dallas gets Thybulle

Portland gets 3 seconds all with potential to be good ones and total cap relief solving their tax issues.

Detroit picks up a prospect for taking on one year of THJ who can at least be a pro and a shooter for a year.

Dallas goes after the guy they tried to sign instead of Derrick Jones while also opening up the money to bring back Jones.(if he's willing to wait on this)

I like it. Seems fair value for Thybule. I don’t think Portland would be able to get a 1st.

If there is no other way of getting below the tax, sure. But if we could trade Brogdon and get below tax, then I’d rather keep Thybulle over a few seconds.

If it’s enough to keep DJJ, we love it.

The other two teams should do it. It cures all of Portland’s financial difficulties this offseason and Det gets an adult in the room and an interesting enough prospect..

I agree on the trade value, such that I don’t think Portland gets more for him. I value him more than 2nds for the idea of spreading a culture of hustle on defense, but the team will value getting below tax more than his defensive influence. If there isn’t another way of getting below the tax, that is the main reason they make this trade.

By the time Dallas could make this deal it’s like that DJJ has already make his free agency decision is it not? Dallas won’t be able to offer this until late into FA. But even if DJJ has walked it’s still a good idea for Dallas.

Yeah I mentioned that in the OP, definitely a concern. But yeah the fallback is Thybulle becomes the limited offense, defensive wing replacement. for him if he moves right away in free agency.

This isn't as pure as jay's ideas for sure.

Yeah, like Myth said, I'd rather hold onto Thybulle for this return. The Blazers are likely going to go into the free agency period just over 4 million over the tax. I expect at least 1 of Brogdon, Simons, or Grant are traded in June/July, and likely for salary return lesser enough to duck the tax without having to give up talent just for tax reasons.

New Pistons management won’t be making these types of moves anymore. Pistons can hard pass this one. We don’t need Burks 2.0 type of deal. I get Prosper was just a late first rounder but another forward who can’t spread the floor is the last thing the Pistons need.

Yeah as clearly stated in the OP this would only be if Detroit stuck out in free agency. And as always if you don't like a prospect, you don't like him. So totally get rejecting taking on the THJ one year deal for a prospect you see no value in.

If the price moves to seconds and not a first, then the Magic would be in on a Brogdon trade. He is hurt too much, but he would replace Fultz, who is also hurt too much.

Id be fine with this modification:

Portland trades: Thybulle / #40
Portland gets: OMax / 27 DET 2nd

Detroit trades: 27 DET 2nd
Detroit gets: THJ / #40 / 25 TOR 2nd / 28 MIA 2nd

Dallas trades: THJ / OMax / 25 TOR 2nd / 28 MIA 2nd
Dallas gets: Thybulle

Nothing changes for Dallas.
Detroit essentially gets 2 seconds to take THJ.
Portland swaps Thybulle for Omax

Looks like an improvement on the OP based on the feedback itt. Appreciate you taking an idea and figuring out how to make it better. I love this kind of collaborative effort on the board. Lots of good feedback, someone pulls it all together as you did for an improved final product.

If Detroit strikes out in FA and is looking at overpaying scrubs just to get to the 90% salary floor, I could accept this deal.

But if we window shop with $60M in cap space and our best acquisition is THJ+Omax, I'll be really disappointed

It's the G league but... O-Max has shot +42% from 3 on +5 attempts, at 6'7 and 230 pounds....and has great defensive potential...I hope we keep him and pretty sure that he will not be released as a small sweetener..he was chosen knowing that he was raw..the boy will be better than DFS in my opinion

who the f is Omax? Thybulle is young enough to be a part of this rebuild, and he's cheap. Not to mention he's one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and he developed a reliable 3 this season. I would trade him for a 1st in the 18-25 range this year, but no way am I doing it for a few seconds. I think Denver could really use him, so I would see what they have to offer.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper. Late first rounder from Dallas who didn’t get real minutes this year. Kind of an unknown right now. So I think the idea behind the proposal is to save money while taking a flier on him. Though if Dallas is letting him go this easily, I suspect that means even behind the scenes they aren’t convinced.
