Jalen Williams for Evan Mobley

Two playoff teams who have been knocked out. Let’s explore this swap…who adds?

Cavs: even if they are not forced to make a PG decision soon (Mitchell or Garland), Jalen can work at SF. BUT, but when Cavs do make a decision, Jalen works well with either PG who gets the rose.

This trade breaks up the Allen | Mobley combo. And as some will argue, Allen is playing better. Cavs need to backfill forward spot, trading one of Garland or Mitchell could easily accomplish.

Thunder: Presti trades from a position of depth (guard) to build his long, longterm frontcourt. Mobley and Chet should work great together. Both 22, locked in and ready to make next step.

***We all know Presti has the most assets to trade in the business. No way realistic to think Cavs would trade Mobley for a collection of assets (not looking for nickels/quarters for their dollar).

i can see how this raises the ceiling for OKC but not sure it does the same for cleveland.

I really like this. Cleveland needs a wing and Williams can play the 2 or the 3 depending on Mitchell-Garland. Mobley is a great fit with Chet and OKC would be a nightmare to score on.

Fits both teams well, but I have Mobley as worth more than JDub by at least a first (maybe I'm wrong).

Also think the Cavs still need to address the Mitchell/Garland pairing as the OP mentioned

I don't see Cleveland moving Mobley without a super star heading back to Cleveland. Swap Allen for Mobley, and start discussing how to balance the trade.

The Thunder dont have to do anything drastic. They have a ton of picks to get a big man.

For reasons that aren't entirely clear to me, I think Allen's time in Cleveland is over, which means that Mobley won't be traded.

I'm less sold on this for OKC. Maybe if OKC goes and gets another terrific offensive player, but we saw against Dallas they were too dependent on SGA against a good defense with a clear scheme against them. This only makes that issue worse.

This is a what I think is the correct take as well.

OKC isnt moving Jalen.

They could cobble something together for Allen IMO.

Would CLE be interested in Jerami Grant? What about -

PDX OUT - Jerami Grant, Duop Reath
PDX IN - Osumane Dieng, MIA 25 FRP, CLE choice of filler (Niang most likely)

OKC IN - Jarrett Allen
OKC OUT - Josh Giddey, Osumane Dieng, MIA 25 FRP

CLE OUT - Jarrett Allen, CLE choice of filler (Niang most likely)
CLE IN - Jerami Grant, Josh Giddey, Duop Reath

Why does Cleveland do this? Fact is they don’t. They are just as win now as OKC. Trade like this is one sided.

I think because Cavs know they need to break up Mobley | Allen. And unless a trade like this presents itself - Allen is odd man out.

How do you think Garland fits with SGA? Can OKC get a one stop shop of Jalen++ for Mobley and Garland.

Huh? They dramatically upgrade their forward rotation and also snag a rotation worthy backup C who can hit a 3.

G - Darius Garland / Donovan Mitchell
G - Donovan Mitchell / Max Strus / Sam Merrill
F - Josh Giddey / Caris LeVert
F - Jerami Grant / Dean Wade
C - Evan Mobley / Duop Reath

I can understand not liking the financial implications but that trade is 100% win now.

That is if one likes Grant. I think he is negative value. Giddey has very little value.

Look at the Allen thread. Ingram, Murray and other players of that win-now caliber are mentioned (because that is what Cavs would want).

No, this is just the Blazers inserting themselves, getting off Grant's salary, and walking away with the 2 best trade assets offered by OKC (which I wouldn't accept in return for Allen).

I don't see why OKC does this. They have enough assets to get a Mobley level player (not saying the Cavs would do it) without handing over an elite talent.

They can add to their existing roster without losing anything. I'd rely the natural development of Williams, Chet etc. and use Giddey plus draft picks to round out their rotation in areas of need.

SGA/Jalen/Chet are the untouchables. That’s the core. Maybe add some others but definitely them.
