I mean the game isn't over. I know Brunson is out (And Randle, and OG, and Robinson and...) but still....

And the Pacers aren't missing, believe me... I'd be very happy to tell you to lock this thread but it's over

jay is watching this game and saying priority 1 is a new 2/$35M contract for Burks.

You think that’s all it costs?! You must not be watching.

Re: Instant Reaction: What Do The Knicks Do This Off-Season?
Contrary to belief, I probably wouldn’t trade for Mitchell even if he said he wanted to be a Knick.
Donte isn’t Donovan by any means talent wise, but I truly don’t think the difference between the two positionally and productively is worth what it will take for Cleveland to trade him.
Might be a slight hot take, but I think their assets are better utilized elsewhere.
Embiid would be my prime target.

PM me if you can help a brotha finally get an AVI.

Re: Instant Reaction: What Do The Knicks Do This Off-Season?
okay so jay jokes aside, they have to start by getting OG and Hartenstein re-signed. Then you decide if you want to risk another year on Robinson's health. He's really impactful when he plays but you just can't depend on him and one of their issues has been staying under the tax and carrying a lot of dead salary on the books. They need to make every dollar stretch further.
Then its the Julius Randle decision. Can you move him to a 3rd team at a reasonable enough valuation to add assets to him to get a better 2nd banana. And who do you choose for that? Feels like a team with a really good best player, a terrific supporting cast and missing that 2nd guy.
Maybe cgf is right and Randle is that 2nd guy though still waiting to see if he can be that in the playoffs is awfully scary. I'd try hard to upgrade him after bringing back OG/IH.

Brunson is amazing. DDV shined. We know OG can play..
Trade Randle and all the picks for a superstar if available. Keep everyone else you can to stay under the apron. Go over second apron in 2025-2026. Have a great 3-4+ year run

I am not seeing a superstar they could snag for Randle and their picks. If a guy like Lauri is on the market they will get outbid. I think they are looking at overpaying for someone like BI at best and I dont think he really moves the needle (He is really iso heavy, not a great fit in NYK on either side of the ball IMO).

Re: Instant Reaction: What Do The Knicks Do This Off-Season?
1. Resign Hartenstein
2. Try to trade Bojan + #25 for a legitimate rotation player to give them a 9-deep roster, but if that isn't available then just draft at #25
3. Run back the Villanova boys another year, this year was relatively magical and fun
Brunson/McBride
DDV/McBride
OG/Hart
Randle/OG
Hartenstein/Robinson
I think this is a solid 8-man rotation, and maybe retaining Bojan helps, but they really need back-court depth and Bojan is mostly a 4 at this point, old, and can't eat up minutes.
Another wrinkle here is the Randle thing, but I would like to see New York run it back. They are a legit 8-deep, flirting with 9.

It's sort of a cop out to say "trade a player and picks for a superstar". All 30 teams would trade a player and picks for a superstar.

They'll probably need to clear some capspace to sign Hartenstein, no? If so, i expect Randle and/or Mitchell to be traded.

Do they if they waive Bojan?
Aren't they sitting like 20 Million below the Tax with Bojan?

I decline Bojan's option, try to dump Robinson then re-sign Hartenstein and OG then mostly run it back.

I am not sure TBH. All I know is he's an UFA and Ive heard the knicks can only offer like 17-18 mill/yr for 4 years.

I think the Knicks are going to keep Randle, Hartenstein, OG and the Villanova trio honestly

They are limited by early bird rights. They may still want to dump some salary to avoid taxes/aprons though. Bojan should be an easy release decision, they can still resign him to a much cheaper deal if they still want him.
