ORL/DEN Murray moves

Orlando-
Cole Anthony
Jett Howard
2025 Denver pick returned
2025 ORL pick
2027 ORL pick
Denver-
Jamal Murray
Nuggets get some cap room and more youth. With this move they can also now afford to bring back Bruce Brown and re-sign KCP. They have a fantastic scouting dept, so they'll likely find someone good with those picks. Lastly, they can be a possible trade candidate with the new found assets.
Magic get a scorer on the perimeter that should mesh well with Paulo and Franz. His lack of defense is made up for by Sugg/Isaac. Jamal isn't afraid to shoot and has won a championship before so he will likely be a positive in the locker room. The lost picks will hurt some but they don't give up any players that are being used currently.
So, who if either of them needs to add to make this even?

Denver isn't going to trade Murray, and definitely not in a deal that just returns a bunch of C- assets.

Murray lost them game 6. He was awful. He is also due another contract next year.

He is the second best player on a team that won the NBA Finals just last year. Dumping him for pennies on the dollar because of one bad game is a terrible idea.

Denver would have to already have something lined up that spun those assets into a really good PG that was just cheaper. But then why wouldn't Orlando just trade for that player themselves?
But you can't go from Murray to Anthony/Brown when you have a championship level team led by the best player in the world. Just not a good idea at all.

I was being nice. He basically lost them the series. They're aren't repeating because of him. Plus Denver can't really afford to pay him the wild $$$ he'll want cause he certainly isn't taking a discount. He already won his ring, now he'll want to get paid big time.
Orlando fits him better going forward. IMO

See, I kinda think that Cole can do 80% of what Murray can at half the cost. With that money they can get more guys to surround Joker. Having Brown back will help a ton btw. Plus they get 2 FRPs this year and 2 FRPs next year.

He can't do 80% of it, but also that final 20% is a really big deal. Those picks don't help them at all if they can't convert them now. Almost no rookies help right away and of course they are waiting years to even be able to pick them.
The only real choices are just hope you get your min signings right or try and split Porter into parts.

Do I think this is a fair offer? Yes. Do I think Denver would be interested....no! This would have to have a different star landing in Denver and with all the new apron rules likely not going to find the perfect trade. DJM plus another good good rotation player making less than 10m...type of deal.

Seems like a big step back for Denver. They are one of the elite teams in the league and Murray is a key part of their success. Yes Jokic is the main guy but Murray is money in the playoffs. Denver would have to route those assets for a upgrade at the point maybe Trae Young but it's easier said then done

They just played against a team that matched up really well with them who happened to also be one of the top teams in the league this year and the series went 7 games. If things end up 1 game different in the regular season, Denver is on the other side of the bracket and they might not even play each other. We've seen what a healthier Murray looks like in the playoffs against better matchups, and he is a key part of that team. Its always hard repeating but you can't place the entire blame on Murray.
There is no way they deal him for this. This takes them a lot farther away from competing for another championship than bringing him back would.

Cole Anthony averaged 5ppg and shot 31% from the field in the playoffs against a weak Cavs team...80% of Murray lol, terrible basketball analysis.

I don't think Orlando is going to trade for Murray, and I don't think Denver will be looking to trade for him either.

No...stay out of this. Murray is awful - banish him to ORL.

Im not trading Jingles without getting Jokic back. Ingles is basically 60% Jokic.
But seriously I think the value is fine, but understand that the Nuggets probably dont want to trade Murray for picks.

I don't think the value is fair.
I will make the same argument for Murray as I do for Isaac.
When Murray is on, he is a difference-maker.
Those kinds of guys are rare and expensive.
Their value is not completely captured in their numbers.

This makes absolutely no sense for Denver. "You have the best basketball player in the world, trade your 2nd best player for unproven, bench role players and future picks".
You can't seriously read this and think it was a good idea.
