GSW - SAC

Post#1 » by bpcox05 » Sat May 25, 2024 10:54 pm

———————

GSW Gets: Sasha Vezenkov, Davion Mitchell, Chris Duarte, & Colby Jones
GSW Gives: Andrew Wiggins
Why for GSW? The Warriors shed $5.1 mil in salary for next season but also get out a lot of long term salary since Vezenkov, Mitchell, Duarte, and Jones are either expirings or have unguaranteed deals next year. If the Warriors decide to let Thompson walk, this gives the Warriors a shot at adding another big name next to Curry and Draymond during the 2025 off-season while saving them from cap/tax hell.

PG - Curry / Mitchell
SG - Podziemski / Payton / Jones
SF - Moody / Duarte / Santos
PF - Kuminga / Vezenkov
C - Green / Jackson-Davis / Looney

———————

SAC Gets: Andrew Wiggins
SAC Gives: Sasha Vezenkov, Davion Mitchell, Chris Duarte, & Colby Jones
Why for SAC? The Kings take on Wiggins big contract but hope that he can return to form under Mike Brown. If so, Wiggins fills a big need for the Kings as someone who has athleticism & length at the forward spot while being a great defender, good shooter, and solid secondary scorer.

PG - Fox / Monk
SG - Ellis / Huerter
SF - Wiggins / Barnes
PF - Murray / Lyles
C - Sabonis

I feel like all those guys would be 3rd string for GS. The Warriors don't need immediate salary relief and I wouldn't count on any 2025 cap space plans.

However in perspective 3 team deals where GS is dealing Wiggins for (probably overpaid but hopefully useful and good fitting) help at other positions I could see those teams preferring a selection of cheap filler guys to Wiggins.

I don't trust Vivek to trade with GSW. I think he's secretly working for them.

Once again, if there is anywhere he should be pressured to be in form, he’s there already

Vezenkov, Duarte, Davion are all expiring and Colby's options can be declined, which won't happen no matter where he is.

As for the trade I don't think it would be in the Warriors' best interests to do this unless they're trying to shed salary for a dip in next years' FA, which is going to be difficult to justify to Steph to let Klay walk, trade off Wiggins for expirings basically and then they would need to trade Dray for an expiring contract too.

Yeah I was thinking some of those were non guaranteed this year which would allow the Warriors to cut this year and pursue say PG-13. But not the case.
