OKC Gets Big, PHX Gets Long w/TOR

Thunder receive Jusef Nurkic, #31 (DET via TOR)
Raptors receive Josh Giddy, Kenrich Williams
Suns receive Chris Boucher, Jalen McDaniels, ‘26 2nd (TOR)

OKC gets a better fit for their roster and maintains cap space. Nurks rebounding/playmaking paired with the OKC length/athleticism fits really well. Giddy and Williams don’t look to be in the teams future and Giddy probably has his lowest trade value of his career.

Toronto adds a big guard with upside at very little cost. Some might not like the Giddy/Barnes fit but at 22/23 and at this cost it seems like a no brainer.

Suns are able to add length and athleticism at the forward position without giving up a first. They also add a future second which helps given their almost empty war chest. Saves them $3M on the cap but I’m not sure Ishbia cares. They would take on that salary if someone wanted to give it.

i'm skeptical phoenix can get expirings for nurkic straight up. OKC says no/will just hold onto their players if this is the best they can do

I know everyone is down on Giddey atm but I have to imagine he can still net better than Nurk. But pretending the value works for OKC, if Im PHX I'd much rather cut out TOR and just take the better players in Giddey/Williams.

They will have to send 22 as well

What about Nurk doesn’t fit with OKC? He doesn’t fit well with what the Suns need. But a big body, rebounding center who can play make fills a lot of needs for the Thunder - particularly in playoff matchups.

If it doesn’t work or an upgrade comes along they need tradeable salary. 2/36 isn’t a bad thing for a team heading over the cap.

I get that Nurks value fluctuates depending on situation but he’s a good player. It’s basically a Bruce Brown contract at this point.

But the Suns would need more coming back as well.

Yeah, I get that but the Suns wouldn’t want Giddy. Williams makes sense. I don’t know what Giddys value is at all right now. Gauging that.

OKC wants go play 5 out
OKC can just sign JV for free id they want someone in Nurkics mold
Nurkics 2nd yr isnt a TO so its not a bruce brown contract

Maybe they wouldn't, and he wouldn't be my first choice either, but he would provide an element of IQ and playmaking that they don't have, so i don't think it would be totally out of the question. I know we all want them to find the perfect fit who checks all the boxes, but with their severe lack of resources they can really only bring guys who give them something they need, as opposed to everything they need.

OKC can still play five out as Nurk wouldn’t have to be a starter. I mean basketball at the NBA level is significantly more complicated than five out, four out, three out, etc. You know that. Nurk has playmaking skills away from the hoop and a decent jump shot. It’s a skill set that can make an offense more dynamic.

Signing JV with space uses space. I’d assume they want to add a bigger piece with their space and get a big. If they don’t, then yeah. JV works.

Raps aren’t using the TO. BB has value to specific teams and they don’t mind overpaying if it’s a short term deal. Thats how is similar.

This is much closer without Giddey Nurk isn’t positive value.

IMO there’s nothing PHX can realistically add to make this work for OKC.

I’d much rather keep Giddey than trade him for Nurk. I’m not opposed to Nurk, but I don’t want to pay him for two years.

no reason for us to pay an early 2nd and future 2nd for kenrich though. toronto should be cut out altogether as another poster said.

That’s fair. Didn’t know where Giddys value was. As for Nurk, doesn’t OKC expect to be over the cap in 25/26? Tradeable salary is a good thing at that point.

Then what is Giddys value here? #19? #22? I don’t have Nurk as positive value in this. I have him as neutral along with Williams. Have Giddy as slightly positive. Have Boucher and McDaniels as slightly negative.

Most ppl value him at a mid 1st or better.

I think Nurk would get MLE money at most in FA so i have him as negative as well
