Dallas would pay some value but Portland would have to take on more short term money to balance out the insane long term money.

I think SHORT term money is doable. The Blazers are right at the cusp of the salary apron. Their cap situation is completely untenable, and they have to get their spending aligned to their current status.

Draft picks next year would be preferred, but I could get behind this trade.

#5 for #7 and #14 Grant and Brogdan. Clears your capsheet

I'm also willing to negotiate and let you keep the #14

Brogdon is expiring so no need to move him, and Portland probably doesn't do #5 for #7 and #14, but could make sense if they have a very specific guy in mind that Pistons or Hornets are projected to take (like Buzelis or Castle).
So at it's core this is salary dumping Grant to the Pistons, I'm not sure either team does it but maybe they should.

Portland counters with #5 for #14 with Grant and/or Brogdon.

If you can get 13th or move up for Grant, go ahead and forget about Dallas’ offer..

I think I’d try..

THJ and “2nds” to Toronto
Green, Maxi, 2025 first, “2nds to Portland
Grant and any of Portland’s vet mins to Dallas

Which sets up MLE for Dallas and DJJ comes off bench, but Grant plays more minutes with the bench group?

I didn’t check math, but seems to cut the target salaries for Dallas and Portland both?

When I look at Blazers having 11 guaranteed contracts, Banton on a T.O. and 4 picks, I assume they want to use Grant to move up in the draft.

#14 + Grant for #5 has some merit but the Pistons have cap space and might just add a veteran 3/4 in Harris while keeping 5.

#34 + #40 + Grant for #8 might have merit but same thing applies for above to Spurs as well.

I like Dallas w/ Charlotte

To Portland
-Maxi Kleber
-Davis Bertans (waive)
-2031 Dallas 1st round pick

To Charlotte
-Tim Hardaway Jr.

To Dallas
-Jerami Grant

Pistons sending Grimes and eating the salary makes sense. Pistons could use Grant's presence and leadership in the front court. Portland adds a younger 3 and D type player on a rookie deal (final year).

It may make sense for Detroit but not Portland.

It’s also not a Grant trade at that point is it?

It’s hard to get a handle on Grant’s value, which I’m not convinced is positive at that salary figure.

Detroit needs multiple 3 and D wings. We could do #5 for Grant and #14 and still get a wing at #14 and in free agency and we'd probably still have needs there. #14 is also somewhere that we could start to look at stretch bigs which is a need if we want Ausar to fit longterm. I'd do that trade for sure.

Sign, sealed, and delivered! I am in

Does Detroit have that much capspace without sending anyone back?
