ORL/OKC/MIN 3-way

Magic: KAT
OKC: WCJ
MIN: Anthony Black/Jett Howard/2FRPs/3SRPs (2024 OKC 1st, 2 2025 OKC SRPs, 2025 ORL FRP-via Denver)
-The Magic get a scorer in the paint that can hit the 3 and balance out Paulo and Franz. He can be helped on D with Suggs and JI.
-The Thunder get a good fit in the paint to pair with Chet whose on a good contract and can hit the occassional 3. They keep all their main guys as well.
-The Wolves get a ton of cap savings and alot of picks and young players that will work on Ant's timeline. Black, in particular could learn alot from Conley. The picks they get back can further add young players to the core. They can also sign someone now that they have cut 30M or so off the cap.
So RealGM; who needs to add to this deal to make it fair?

No way Wolves can make it to WCF and then trade teams 2nd best player for this type of package. Maybe if Black had an amazing rookie year and looked ready to take next step (but than would Magic trade him). Way too big of a step backwards. DOA in my book.

Dont think WCJ is worth a lotto pick

Don't want to help the Wolves for obvious reasons.

KAT is not a good fit with Banchero. Magic keep WCJ and use their trade assets to upgrade at guard.

It's not really a backwards step IMO. You can also use the xt money you get to aquire more players this summer via FA. Bruce Brown for example would be of great use now. Also, the added picks would enable them to gain more players and increase the bench. Which is needed as it appears that Ant is getting tired somewhat.

It's a fairly weak draft, so the #12 this year is more like the #22-#25 I bet in a normal draft.

It is a huge step backwards. Wolves if trading Towns, are going to entertain trades with names like Garland, Ingram, Murray, etc. Not multiple picks and huge step back. Multiple pick trades are for rebuilding teams - not teams in WCF.

Normally, I'd agree but with the 2nd apron issues and the fact that Naz Reid is due a deal-a big one soon....I wonder. Team will be hamstrung and unable to make major moves. This will allow them to get some more room to breathe.

Ownership has made no mention of money being a problem. If it is, I mean actually is (and only the billionaires in the room really know), a picks package is always sitting there for Wolves. Like real back burner. Entertain the trades that are indeed NOT a big step back, exhaust all options first.

If you completely delete Karl-Anthony Towns' salary (taking nothing back), Minnesota would have less than five million dollars in cap space to play with. They would technically have the Mid-Level Exception under the Luxury-Tax, but that's it.

I agree. KAT is a good, not great but very good player. But he has his warts and thats a lot to throw at a player. And honestly, Orlando needs a PG upgrade more than another big man. And KAT has made it known many times he does NOT want to play center.

The bolded part is simply not true. You might be thinking of earlier career AD. KAT has always viewed himself as a center who was willing to move to PF in the starting lineup to accommodate the Gobert trade when the front office approached him about it.

Does it make sense to create a huge hole in the rotation to get some flexibility to fill that hole, but in a much worse way?

ORL needs a Jarrett Allen-type Center (ideally) not a KAT

Well they're a 2nd apron team so that's to be expected. I think they have the MLE available even in my scenario where they get back those 2 former lotto picks. So, use the MLE and add someone. Another value is now they can buy picks if needed as well.
I've looked at it again and ORL might need to add another 1st. That gives you guys a total of 3FRPs, 2SRPs, and Black/Howard both who were high drafts picks a year ago. That's a great haul while cutting almost 40M off the books. Not including whoever you sign with the MLE plus you keep Reid and Slomo now under Bird rights.

If Magic really want Towns, the trade is Suggs (back home) + WCJ. Then let Magic go get a win-now PG with Black+++. Wolves aren’t interested in picks based packages.
