Caruso to Philly
Caruso to Sixers for the #16 and cap space.
Caruso is cheap, and one of LBJ's favorite teammates. He is a popular player so he could help draw other vets
Bulls saves some $ and get a solid pick

Re: Caruso to Philly
I don't think Caruso is a meaningful lure to free agents. I don't think one year of Caruso is worth #16. Doesn't mean this is a terrible idea of anything. Value can always be fixed, but overpaying with the thought of oh Lebron will come feels like a misguided approach for Philly to take.

I don't think Caruso is steering anyone [PG13, LeBron, Butler, ect] to Philly. Caruso is the type of player you add AFTER you add the Star, not before.

Re: Caruso to Philly
I do like him in a Sixers-George timeline. If we had George in the bag and Caruso would agree to a reasonable extension, I would do this.
Maxey
Caruso
George
Anderson?
Embiid
Very well fitting group.

2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

I'm not saying Caruso would be "steering" a star to Philly, but I think it wouldn't hurt any. Worst case, they don't get a star and Caruso is still a great addition for them

Re: Caruso to Philly
I think after free agency paying 16 might make sense.
But the timeline is problematic

Re: Caruso to Philly
Caruso is a star in his own right - his on/off value is routinely in the 90+ percentile, as well as is Net Rating. His impact on the game is as big as any player in the league.
Gauging his value always seems tricky as while advanced metrics absolutely love him - he's clearly not stuffing the stat sheet.
It's also one of the few recent moves the Bulls have made that seems like it's been a home run, and at 30 years old, I don't rate him as all that old. I fear as soon as we traded Caruso we'd immediately be in need of Caruso.
It just seems like a secondary move for both teams that's difficult to gauge in a vacuum.
If Philly lands a good forward in free agency or via trade - then yeah adding Caruso is a very solid move and one that certainly helps compete for a title in the immediate.
For the Bulls if their big offseason move is trading Caruso for #16 and cap space - it also seems underwhelming. If other vets are still here I don't see why we move off of Caruso who fits universally with pretty much anyone.
I know making trades bigger so often seems like not the right move, but I feel like in this case, something be expanded to include one of the LA teams with either PG or LeBron going to Philly, DeMar going to LA, and Caruso also going to Philly with assets going to Chicago could make some sense.

It would help an older star knowing they’ll never have to guard the best wing or guard on the opposing roster.

Re: Caruso to Philly
You don't want #16, you want #24 & #25

CHI gets 24 and 41
NYK gets 16
PHI gets Caruso and 25
Yep, that works.

I assumed the Knicks wanted 16. If not, that's fine, we just stick with OP.

Oh no lol. I'm a knicks fan who lives in Chicago and has been thirsting for Caruso for ages...I'd rather swap Bogey for Caruso than Randle for KAT/Spida/Mikal, and might even if it cost us the same number of picks/sweeteners
