Get Trae Young to Orlando

Post#1 » by OrlMagic05 » Thu May 30, 2024 2:50 pm

What would that Magic have to give up to land Trae Young. I would say the "untouchables" would be Paolo, Franz, & Suggs.

Would a deal around JI, AB, Jett, and future 1st get it done?

You (universal you) have to ask yourself what do Hawks want. They aren’t rebuilding (re: Jazz trading Mitchell and Gobert), Young isn’t asking out, and Hawks will need a very particular offer…

OP offer isn’t it. And if Suggs and Wagner are off Magic trade table - 3rd team is needed who wants Magic picks and meh youth for an established player Hawks do want.

I don't see any way forward with all three of those guys as "untouchable"

The old "Trade for an All-NBA PG while removing your Wing and Guard prospect even though neither are remotely close to being Top 75 Players in the NBA".

Classic.

I think a couple 2nds and matching salary should get it done!

Trae would fit great in Orlando. But it would probably cost you Wagner.

Why make Suggs untouchable? Seems greedy. You have to give to get.

This.

Wagner + Filler

FOR

Trae + Hunter

Value to taste.

In reality not untouchable - but 100% should be kept when acquiring Trae - as they make a great backcourt in Orlando.

Suggs is a great fit in a backcourt with Trae so I get why you wouldn't want to include him in the deal, but if Atlanta says "Suggs or no deal"...you give them Suggs.

I think it's largely a moot point though because Wagner is the guy Atlanta would want as the centerpiece.

Wagner and 1 or 2 future first rounders for Young and Hunter makes sense.

To Cavs: WCJ + Isaac + Magic Pick

To Hawks: Franz + LeVert + Magic Future Pick? (Nugs?)

To Magic: Trae + Hunter + Allen

I guess if Cavs think they can get Franz with Garland + Allen, Hawks are cut out. But if they can’t or aren’t going to move Garland (just Allen) this makes sense.

Garland + Allen for Franz + WCJ + filler (probably Mo just to keep the band together) is a pretty interesting deal both ways IMO if Orlando isn't able to use its cap space to add an impact player without giving up Franz.

Isaac
Suggs
Garland

Franz

do not see magic splitting up the 3 ,,and do not see hawks trading for less then 1 of them....there is no deal..allstar pg would be great to add but i dont think a must have...a passable defender 10-12 shots a game on decent efc can handle ball and run offense is magic need...for me not even must have this yr but would be real nice..need spot filled by next summer for sure and be ready for a solid 5 yr or so window...can suggs or black step into role? right now i dont think so both need work on handle and passing both crafts being a big deal but could surprise me...also matters how much better franz and paolo get at point foward next season

Orlando can offer 4-6 firsts and keep the guys they want to keep and run Trae/Suggs/Wagner/Paolo/WCJ until their ownership refuses to pay for it..

Or you trade Franz.. either way does work..

I think Wagner should absolutely be on the table for TRae. That wouldn't faze me at all especially if he is valued around the league like he is here (I imagine the league values him a fair bit less fwiw) and allowed me to save assets to add in another piece.

WAgner is far from untouchable imo.

if Orlando makes an all-in push and trades Franz, would they have $$ to push for Paul George (don't think so, don't have time to crunch numbers) ?? That would be a pretty nasty starting 5.

Trae
Suggs
PG
Paolo
WCJ

puts pipe down because Orlando FO is as risk-averse as they come
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

ATL should insist on Franz and ORL should be looking elsewhere anyway. Trae is not a guy you simply slide into a lineup and expect a seamless transition.

Murray is a much more sensible fit and can maybe be worked out without disrupting ORL core...perhaps picks to a third team like POR and a contributor like Brogdon + going to ATL?

If Franz is on the table, and should be for correct player in return, Cade seems more ideal.

Wagner

FOR

Cade

Arm wrestle over who adds value and what deal looks like.

Pistons can draft at 5 who they like as Cade backfill.

#18, Den 2025 1st, 3 UNP ORL first, 3 UNP swaps, Anthony, Ingles, Howard + Carter OR Isaac

Orlando has the assets to make a competitive offer for Young without giving up Wagner, Black, or Suggs, IMO

I totally understand ORL looking at Young with the mindset of pairing with Franz/Banchero AND wanting Suggs/Black in the back court to make up for him defensively.

Ugh, this argument gets old. Magic might have the quantity of assets - but why, why would Hawks accept? Unless you are adding like 40%+ overpay in assets they don’t need/want…Hawks aren’t in the business of trading Trae for a picks package. So…

The burden is on Magic to find a 3rd team for that picks package Hawks don’t want.

Yes quoting myself…
