Hawks | Rockets: Draft Day Blockbuster
Hawks Trade:
Trae Young + #1 + Hunter + Bufkin
FOR
FVV + #3 + Jabari + Jalen Green
Rockets Trade:
FVV + #3 + Jabari + Jalen Green
FOR
Trae Young + #1 + Hunter + Bufkin
*I think Rockets owe little more, 26 Nets 1st just seems like too much.
Rockets get a win-now PG upgrade to Trae. But other motivation is can Sarr and Sengun be longterm bigman duo?
Sengun | Sarr | Adams
Sarr | Eason | Hunter
Hunter or Amen | Whitmore
Brooks or Amen | Bufkin
Trae | Bufkin
Hawks trade Trae and punt on “who is #1” for full roster upgrade.
Okongwu or Capela
Jabari | Jalen Johnson
Jalen Johnson | Bey
Murray | Jalen Green (6th man for now)
FVV | Murray | #3 (Sheppard or Topic)
FVV and/or Murray could be traded to supplement young core of: Okongwu | Jabari | Johnson | Green | #3.

Re: Hawks | Rockets: Draft Day Blockbuster
I don't get it.
Teams either sell off their younger pieces to get win now pieces, or sell off their win now pieces to get future assets and clean cap sheets. This jumbles everything and doesn't commit either team full on in one direction.
Just do:
Green, Green, Landale, #3, Nets 2027 #1
for
Trae
Houston improves drastically and still has youth that can get better and hopefully grow into a contender. Hawks get an additional great pick, and another future pick.

Hawks aren’t in a usual position (Rockets either), they don’t own their own future. In this scenario, trading Trae (vs trading Murray), they stay win-now but improve their future.
Or better said, both teams are rebalancing roster. Neither is mortgaging youth for win-now or trading win-now for youth.

I don’t see the value of FvV in Atlanta. Might want to find a third team (Orlando/Miami/Brooklyn) has a third player for FvV.
Might even be able to swap him to Washington for Poole as a cost saving move.

Re: Hawks | Rockets: Draft Day Blockbuster
Houston shouldn’t trade Bari for Sarr. And Atlanta should let them finish paying for Trae in a different way. Especially since Houston also has Tari as well..
I’m not sure what others feel, but Bari is still a better prospect than Sarr to me despite burning through two years.
And I’d keep FVV in it. Houston can use their useless expirings and assets on another player while FVV keeps Atlanta near the play-in while their new young core develops. Or having FVV lets you trade Murray for the best youth return possible. By the time the pick debt is done, Atlanta will know if some of Reed/Jalen/Jalen/Sarr/OO is worth building around or if they enter a rebuild and flip some/all of that group..

I feel the same way. The whole point of moving Trae would be to move Murray to the PG position where he is better at defensively. Adding FVV forces you to either play Murray out of position and deal with the same issues you have been, or pay $40 million for an expensive backup.
I am also not a fan of Green for Atlanta. With him being expiring you have to quickly make a decision about how much you think his shooting and defense can improve. Wrong decision and you are paying way too much for a non-defensive chucker.

People really don't value defense. Why would Rockets trade Jabari ?
He was ranked 9th in d Lebron & has the ability, potential to space the floor.

Vleet could be shipped to Orl or SA for cap space and small value like a protected first. Both of which have value to ATL.
Jabari fills a need perfectly for Houston.
Houston would rather send picks. They might send one of amen/whitmore/eason but they are highly valued in Houston. Jgreen has more value to Houston than other teams.

Trades need to give to get. And not just give what you want but what other team needs and might accept (taking into consideration both sides of equation).

Of course Rockets rather send picks. But ask yourself would Hawks rather receive picks? One of Rockets more proven (than picks) youth (like Jabari) is needed.
Trae for picks, to me is DOA, doesn’t work for Hawks - the team holding the non-asking out asset of Trae Young.

Remove #1 and Jabari and I think it´s closer

I agree trades have to give to get but you didn't answer my question.
Why are Rockets giving up on a young big who was top 10 in d- Lebron with the ability & potential to space the floor?.
I mean if they are, I want in. He'd look good in NO's.

I would say most do not put high value on defense. For me that is one of the first attributes I look at. Does the team seeking the trade have enough defense around the position I want filled?
If so, I can easily talk myself into moving for an offensive presence knowing they will be covered (Garland to SA with Wemby behind him).

yeah that part is a bit odd. Houston would need to find a SG though after this pretty badly. Could they maybe get Bogs in this version without Bari/1?

Re: Hawks | Rockets: Draft Day Blockbuster
Playing around with the OP trade, I added the Spurs for a landing spot for FVV and changed some players.
Spurs trade Johnson
Spurs receive FVV, remove the swap on the 26 FRP with Atlanta (Spurs get the pick outright), 27 FRP Rockets
Spurs bag the 2 picks for being willing to absorb FVV. Luckily for the Spurs, this is a one year contract where they can opt out of 25-26 FVV.
Rockets trade Adams, Eason, FVV, Green, #3, 27 FRP
Rockets receive Bufkin, Hunter, Young
Rockets get the PG they thought they were getting in FVV with Young. Hunter will most likely get moved as Whitmore/Thompson grow.
Hawks trade Young, Hunter, Bufkin, remove swap on 26 FRP
Hawks receive Adams, Eason, Johnson, Green, #3
For removing Smith, Rockets include #3 (Smith is better than any pick in this draft). Hawks get a young core to grow around J. Johnson. Murray gets to assume control of the team. Hawks look for partners to take Capela, Bogdanovich for youth or second round picks in 25/26.

Eason isn't going anywhere
And prefer to keep FVV, he is really alot better than I ever expected.

Why? Amen next to Trae would be amazing.

So propose a trade for NOP. In OP, Trae Young and #1 is going Rockets way.
