Bucks are one of the oldest rosters in the league and Brook is their most valuable trade asset outside of their big 3. Lopez is still considered a unicorn center (good rim protector who spaces the floor). He still has the ability to be an efficient scorer in the post when Giannis is out. What teams should consider trading for him and what do you consider fair value based on him being on a $23MM expiring deal?

I don't see how the Bucks get better dealing him. But this is a low cost addition the Thunder should absolutely make. And if not them, the Lakers, Pels, Warriors, Knicks, MAgic should all be sniffing around.

But I really don't get the benefits to the Bucks.

Thunder should definitely be in this, Jaylin+K.Williams +late FRP..?..

The Bucks could involve a 3 team like the Blazers...
I imagine something like this...

B.Lopez to THUNDER.
They fill an obvious positional hole and get an excellent veteran..

Thybulle/K.Williams/Jaylin/FRP high protection to BUCKS..

Fill obvious gaps, get younger and get a future asset..
Try to sign Bitadze..

Lillard/P.Bev/Draft
Thybulle/Pat/Green
Middleton/Jackson
Giannis/K.Williams
Portis/Jaylin/FA


Beuachamp+33+Warriors 25 SRP to BLAZERS .. Prospect, a couple of minor assets and cutting payroll (I think it would be a priority)

Nobody will give Milwaukee a return on a Lopez trade that results with them being a a better team than they currently are with Lopez. I don't think it's possible.

Lopez is good, but he is also old and expensive. In a trade, you have to give something to get something. You either trade Lopez for a worse player who is either younger or cheaper, or you trade him for a better player who is older or more expensive. The problem is, the Bucks can't get older or more expensive. Therefore, Lopez won't get traded for a better player.

At best, maybe you can argue that Lopez could be traded for a player with equivalent value at a different position, and the Bucks can improve by reallocating their resources at different positions. If Lopez was traded for the small-forward version of Lopez, then maybe a Bucks team with Giannis at center could at least be interesting.

So who is the small-forward version of Lopez? Somebody still pretty good, but a little too old and/or a little too expensive so that the other team might consider such a trade. Harrison Barnes? Maybe a guy like Dillon Brooks?

Bucks are right up against the 2nd apron (still not fully clear if we can aggregate salaries until June 30th or if that is already in place). Moving Brook to a team with a need for him and cap space puts them in a much more flexible position to make subsequent deals. You pretty much know you aren't getting a better player back, but you ideally get movable pieces and a pick to use once away from the 2nd apron and can aggregate salaries.

For instance (not saying OKC does it, but for the sake of this post):

MKE: Kenrich, Dieng, 12
OKC: Lopez, 23

Now you have the ability to aggregate players to construct your roster around Giannis/Khris/Dame. Portis/Pat/12 for ???, etc.

Would Vando fit though next to Giannis?

Vando is an elite defender when healthy and adding a 1st to get an aging Brook Lopez may not be the best use of assets

Maybe something like Vando+17 and 1-2 2nds for Lopez and 21?

We would also need to get some sort of defensive minded guard or wing after such as Caruso, Smart, DFS if we move Vando

It's not optimal, but mostly parking Vando in the DS on offense with Giannis could be fine. The versatility he would provide our defense is the obvious appeal. Brook/#33 for Vando/#17 is probably my take it or leave it offer.

17th probably gets Carter from Orlando, yeah? And they make less than Lopez combined. Maybe add the Portland 2nd since LAL has to dump some salary on Orlando here..

WCJ, Portis, and Vandy give you some different looks to pair with Giannis, and it is affordable for a couple years at least... WCJ and Portis are good enough shooters that I think you can get by with Vandy’s 33% corner three for some nice big lineups.

Know I’m higher on Vandy’s impact than others here though.

If OKC doesn’t sign Hartenstein or someone like that, I’d do a protected future 1st and cap space.

It’s lopsided, but if Milwaukee wants cap space, Pistons would sign/trade Wiseman (cheaply ) and throw in a second, basically absorbing Lopez’s salary. He’s strong everywhere Duren isn’t. Maybe he could teach Duren a few things.

What about Isaiah Stewart? I think he could be interesting for the Bucks as a 4-5-hybrid next to Giannis. Would the Pistons consider swapping him for Lopez?

I don’t think so. López would be a one year rental. Can’t give up real assets for him.
