For Wolveswin a Blockbuster ORL/POR/MIN
Portland trades: Simons
Portland gets: Howard/#27
Orlando trades: Carter Jr/Howard/#18/Better of 25 DEN(top 5)/ORL 1st/27 ORL 1st (unp)
Orlando gets: Towns
Minny trades: Towns/#27
Minny gets: Carter Jr/Simons/#18/Better of 25 DEN/ORL 1st/27 ORL 1st
Portland moves Simons to clear the way for Scoot, picks up a couple of small assets, solves their tax issue.
Orlando goes and gets another offensive star to help Banchero while still keeping their defensive identity and losing nothing from their rotation other than upgrading Carter to Towns.
Minny sheds a bit of payroll, maintains a deep 3 big rotation, adds another perimeter scorer(starts as a 6th man, but plays plenty) and picks up some future assets to further bolster the roster.

Re: For Wolveswin a Blockbuster ORL/POR/MIN
phenomenally bad fit for ORL, regardless of value...Offense only frontcourt with defense-only backcourt...NO
I'd happily up the offer to POR...Howard and #18 for Simons

fwiw I have Towns no downgrade from Carter defensively and don't think Banchero is a liability either for that matter.
But yeah just outbidding for Simons is logical.

I dont think Howard + 18 gets Simons with PDX already having 7 + 14 in this pretty weak draft but who knows. If PDX has any value on Howard (I dont personally - never liked him as a prospect and think ORL panic drafted him after Cason went the pick before) then the FO may like this more than me.
I think Simons value is closer to something like - Simons + 14 + 34 for Black + 18 + lowest 25 FRP. But I know TC will eviscerate me for this evaluation lol.

I won't.

I honestly don't fully know how to value Simons. I clearly set his value lower than you did--especially with all the financial savings included, but I'm not saying your value is wrong and mine is right. Just went with what felt right to me. As you have to do for you.

Ut oh. You know what they say about flattery, the #1 version of it is….lol
And dare I say, I love the attempt and don’t hate it for Wolves (actually).
WCJ is a nice backfill of Towns. Simons (not that Simmons) is a nice gamble as PGOF in MN. Picks give Connolly something to work with.
No green font needed here.

Can you explain how much better WCJ is defensively compared to Towns?
FWIW, Towns was part of a good defense in 2022 where the Wolves had decent perimeter talent around him at Center. I don't think this Orlando team has worse perimeter defense, in fact they have better perimeter defense.

Eh, they have Suggs and Cole Anthony who can play PG defensively.
Towns has historically been a 3-5 APG player.
Paolo was a 5+ APG player as a 21 year old.
Franz was a 3+ APG as a 22 year old.
They should still be able to afford a stop-gap PG if needed.

Definitely still a hole for sure. But with Towns in for Carter, now you don't need that PG to be an offensive engine making Suggs/Black far more viable, right?
And they still have Isaac, Ingles, and Anthony as matching salary to go address that position further.

This is about where I am too. Though, I don’t need to string arm Magic for Black as much as I’d like to get him in a guard exchange. Simons for 18 and a future 1st would be sufficient for me. I’ve also been vocal about not being a Jett believer, so that makes the OP especially rough. I’m more into targeting the 27 than most though for those that saw my thread about targeting Holmes. If Holmes is there at 27, I could potentially accept 27 and a protected 2025 Magic first.

I never said WCJ was a better defender than Towns...my thought is, if ORL is going to trade for a max guy it's not going to be more of the same in the frontcourt, while the impotent backcourt stays the same. I'm a fan of WCJ but I don't think he's a great fit either.
I'd rather have Simons & WCJ than Towns. Having a bunch of 6'10+ guys with good assist #'s doesn't negate the need for a legit ballhandler in the backcourt...Suggs/Harris was not by choice - it was due to a gaping hole in the roster. AB isn't there yet offensively, Suggs is, sadly, a terrible ballhandler and not a playmaker for others, Fultz can't/won't attempt a shot outside of 3'. Because of Franz & Paolo's offensive creation, they don't really need a traditional PG, but they very much need someone to take over SOME of the ballhandling & PnR burden from the backcourt (along with additional scoring & floor spreading). Towns is very good, but I think it just compounds their issues...my ideal vision is something like Jarrett Allen in the C with a combo guard like Murray or Monk or Simons in the backcourt w/Suggs. I'd like to have a "real" PG coming off the bench to tighten things up at times too.
