PDX/LAL

Portland out: Brogdon, Doup Reath, #34, #40
LAL out: Rui, Jalen Hood Schifino, #17
Why for Portland? They like Ware or Smith and want to cash in on Brogdon and Reath. Rui fits a bit better than both in that scenario.
Why for LAL? Brogdon likely an upgrade over Russell, but could also play beside him if they keep him. Reath is a nice big who can do what they hoped Christian Wood would do. 2 nice 2nds let them take you know who and a cheap flier on someone else.

I dont think LAL needs Brogdon if Russell is staying. value wise i think Brogdon =< Rui + JHS and Reath/34/40 <17.

I’d do this with or with out Russell staying.
One can slide to 6th man, or go death line up of:
Brogdon, Russell, Reaves, Bron, AD.

if the Lakers are willing to roll the dice on Brogdon's health, I like this quite a bit.

Pass for POR.
Looking for assets in another draft, already have 4 picks this year, in addition to other reasons.

I like Brogdon as an attainable and impactful guy for the Lakers. I think playing at Lebron/AD pace would match him well? But I also don’t see Portland having a need or interest in adding JHS when they have “the other Scoot”, Simons, Sharpe, and two other lotto picks in this draft. Seems like a misallocation of resources?
Something around Rui/Vincent would make more sense to me? Vincent doesn’t need developmental minutes, and he can stabilize some non youth minutes like JHS can’t yet? Adjust the pick compensation accordingly, etc.

Portland takes this deal. Brogdon does little for the future and not sure what else he could bring.
Hachimura allows either he or Grant to be moved for other pieces.

I mean two of those picks are in this deal, so the net effect is that Portland comes out of this with 3 picks rather than 4.
If someone's offering a 1st for Brogdon at this point, I think Portland ought to take it.

This type of deal does allow Portland to consolidate their two SRP's into one FRP for one of the many
guys who can go in any order in the first round, who might not make into the second round.
Portland might like to trade for a third FRP over more depth pieces while the Lakers get a more win now
piece

I like the value and the player . Also like trading 17 and getting back 2 seconds .But Lakers have too many injury prone players as is. I rather have a worse player that going to play IMO . Even then, I probably still pull the trigger.

Poor asset management for the Lakers.

Yeah I'm going to be honest, nothing against JHS but he is in there purely for salary matching. I don't have a lot of hope for him to develop. That said, if theres a better filler out there it should be amenable.

Way I see it. POR does this for 17 and Rui allows them to tank and trade Grant for more assets. JHS just high end salary filler in this deal lol

This feels rich for Brogdon at this point. I can see why the Lakers would consider a Brogdon/Russell swap - with Russell going to a 3rd team for a future assets and expiring's.
How about something like:
LAL: Malcolm Brogdon
POR: Dennis Schroeder, 2027 PHIL Protected 1st via BK
BK: D'Angelo Russell
There were Russell to BK rumors at the deadline and this trade brings him there for a relatively minimal cost. The Lakers get a better shooter/defender in Brogdon to play off Lebron/Reaves. Portland turns Brogdon into a medium upside future pick.

Think it'd work for Blazers and LAL, but if I'm being honest I don't think BRK is in a spot to send out picks unless they get an all-star back.
I toyed with the idea of replacing Rui with Gabe Vincent in the original deal, it makes the salaries and the teams roster spots more difficult to work out (Portlands roster is capped and Vincent is an awful contract) but maybe there is something there as well, though I feel most permutations of that one went up too far on the Lakers favor. I do feel the original deal is slightly in Portlands favor, but I also think this board general undervalues Brogdons production.
I guess I just have the Lakers as willing to make a slight overpay so long as it doesn't cost future assets to try to get the most of the end of Lebrons career. Brogdons production and efficiency isn't in doubt, or his ability to play both sides of the floor, it's mostly his availability. While he missed a fair share of games last year, it's hard to say which were injuries and which were draft pick manipulations.
Here's a thought though, Thybulle and Vincents contracts match. Maybe throwing them both in balances it?

Then swap him out. He has value, even if you think he should be treated with none. He was only drafted last year after a solid big conference year as a freshman.

I'm sending out the least valuable future 1st BK has, and they are still in a very good position with 6 trade eligible picks (3 PHX, 1 DAL, 2 BK). Maybe make the pick the lesser of PHIL/BK 27 1st?
Regarding Brogdon's fit on the Lakers, it makes a ton of sense, but the availability part is a little scary given the Lakers roster.
I actually think there is a world where the Lakers benefit from having both Russell and Brogdon on the roster. Russell can be the middle of the rotation innings eater to get the Lakers through the regular season and Brogdon can be the closer. A 3 guard rotation of Brogdon-Reaves-Russell makes sense to me.
