2-work out S&T for DDR for rebuilding assets if possible, let him walk if not.

I think most outsiders were advising some version of this last off-season too

My IMMEDIATE priorities:

-Trade Lavine, ideally for a young player that's the odd man out of a rotation or to one of the early out playoff teams that looked like they desperately needed scoring/shooting.
-Get our 25 1st back from San Antonio
-Let Demar walk (depending on who he goes to, try to facilitate a S&T)
-Pick up an actual PF, either thru trade or signing.

After that, my priority is complimentary moves:
-Trade Vuc and Caruso
-Let PWill test the market. I doubt anyone gives him real money so my offer is 4/44 cuz there's no way he deserves more money that Coby. If someone offers him more, I let him walk.

Trade down in the draft and target Fillipowski or DaRon Holmes

I did the trade on fanspo as a 4 team trade just to knock out everything pretty much at once.

Chi in: Kennard, Mo Wagner, Zaire Williams, Chi 25' 1st, Mem 25' 2nd (via Hou or OKC)

Orlando gets a secondary scorer to help Paolo since Franz pooped the bed in the playoffs and a pick. Mem gets a useful and durable big (doesnt Clarke have a possible career ending injury?) and another scoring wing while getting off Smart's contract. Spurs get two defensive guards, one of which (Smart) is used to ballhandling and setting things up and can partner with the other (Caruso) to play 1-3 and also defend 1-4 when needed as well as a solid defensive 4 to pair next to Wemby. Chi gets an ELITE volume shooter, a serviceable 4/5, and a young 3 who's prolly odd man out, while also getting next years 1st back along with a 2nd from next year as well.


After opening up a TON of cap space for Chi (and that really wasnt my goal here), I'd go after Nic Claxton as the new starting C, hearing he could get anywhere from 80-100 mil. If that's not possible, I'm targeting vet PFs and/or Cs with a couple young players that have either been lackluster or just havent gotten the chance to play.

I'm unhappy that 3 straight years hasn't gotten us anywhere. Yes Lonzo Ball missed 2 1/2 seasons, yes Zach Lavine got hurt, Yes Patrick Williams got hurt. They made no deadline moves 2 years in a row and not much the off season in between. What I hate is that we have a veteran team geared towards a playoff run but we can't get to the playoffs. So we're taking the chance to deal RIGHT NOW

Here we are with pick #11, can't trade it, OK the rights could move. I'm not opposed to getting another pick in a supposedly weak draft, I'm looking for one even two in 2025 to fill the void and I'm done trading them away in the future.


1. If I can get some young and athletic size that hasn't earned much of a 2nd contract and a pick in a S&T for Demar DeRozan I do it. If not I let him go and get some cap space
2. I'm trading Zach Lavine, not taking on old expiring contracts with old tired players attached. The same young athletic bigs or shooters who maybe haven't panned out.
3. Trading Alex Caruso, he's expiring so he won't bring as much as he could have at the deadline. Maybe the player and pick
4. There are a couple of teams that could use Nikola Vucevic, too bad he's not a great defender, he is a double double at the 5, passes the ball well, durable doesn't make mistakes.
5 Resigning Patrick Williams, he's starting at the SF and is major upgrade defensively. He makes it or he doesn't
6. Ready to start Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu at the guards, liking Javonte Green off the bench with some trade pieces with him behind them.
7. Resigning Andre Drummond to start at center and hopefully find 2-3 young guys who benefit from finding a new situation and can learn from a damn good center.
8.Keeping Torrey Craig and Julian Phillips to come off the bench

I want to end up with a young roster that is led by White, Dosunmu and Williams, steadied by Drummond that passes the ball, gets out in transition and plays defense

I'm not scared of Miles Bridges, I don't think John Collins is a bad player, I like Josh Giddey, I want to see about Mo Bamba, Jaxson Hayes, Mo Wagner, Isiah Jackson, a couple of guys named Smith and a number of young guys who don't look like there are any minutes for them where they're at.

Take one year of looking at what we've got, see who matures at what position and I honestly don't think we're any farther from the play in than we have been for 3 years but with a much brighter future.

Pretty much this.
Coby White also might be close to the highest value this off-season.
Get as many expiring contracts as you can.

What teams are projected to be in reconstruction, that will not compete for the Playoffs for next season,? Wizards, Raptors?, Blazers?...
The other teams will at least try to improve...
I think the Bulls have the opportunity to change their future drastically in just 1 year, especially with a very good Draft at the Top expected. ...

This extremely young team will ensure that they retain the selection for next year, and with luck a good development of the young people loaded with talent.
Next year, with tons of cap space, would be the time to get some good veterans and move on.

First off no, the Bulls won't be taking the option for 2024-25 that is dropping to the bottom 10. Not intentionally

I can wish that HOU would take that deal, much easier to get somebody impressive at #3 than #11 and that kid sticks with the big club and doesn't go back and forth to the G League. But whoever he is, he's not starting. Landale maybe a decent backup.

Nobody sees Ben Simmons as an NBA center and that would be a horrible trade for Lavine

I almost like the GSW trade, if they resign Drummond. I'm of the opinion that few players who are good role players with a great core like Steph, Klay, Green, Wiggins are being held back, they're almost always good because their talent is equal to their role. They don't improve given a larger role on a team without those stars.

An expiring Looney is a nice backup for a year but you seem to forget that they got Landale in the Caruso trade and he's got 3 more years. But the three of them fill the 5 slot and some minutes at the 4. Moody you kind of hope gets the message as he's traded that he's a role player and not a breakout all star candidate. Payton would have to opt in and he's not worth the same $9M that you just traded away with Caruso. Yes defense, Ayo is very good and you can bring back Javonte Green for much less.

But if they aren’t, they should “push in”… shop Coby, 11th for the best big possible. Ball or Vuc as salary depending on what position you get back… Plan to pay Demar and Patrick, start LaVine/Demar and hope Carter bounces back and Ayo continues on last season off the bench.

Terrible idea, but they don’t have the talent to try and keep their youth and win now.

If PG13 departs to somewhere else, I can see Ballmer pushes to buttons to get another "allstar" for his grand opening.

After PG13 loss, Clippers will drop to below of luxury tax level and gain flexibility on trades, they can get 125% of the salary they traded. Zach Lavine is the only star player on the market for grabs, doesn't require 1st rd picks i guess.

In order to absord Zach's 43M salary Clippers needs to send close to 35M. Norman Powell + PJ Tucker + Bones Hyland makes around that.

Maybe this type of exit would be possible for Chicago.

1- Fire Karnisovas and Eversley.
2- Keep Donovan, good coach, I think he'll be great for a rebuilding
3- Commit to the rebuild
4- Trade LaVine for smaller contracts, e.g. if Utah were dumb enough to be interested, LaVine for Collins and Clarkson with Clarkson going to a third team for a useless expiring and maybe a 2nd.
4- resign pat Williams, he's fine and young enough to be part of a rebuild
5- trade vet point guards for picks and prospects, this means Caruso and Carter
6- trade Vucevic for just about anything you can get
7- see if there is a s+t for DeRozan
8-see if Portland will send say... 3 2nds for their lotto protected first returned. Just get some assets for something that won't convey as a first. I'm sure they'll give a small asset or two just for the increased flexibility.

Not necessarily in any order, but a broad plan like this moves them the right direction. I would draft one of the many nice small forward prospects and see how say.... Tristan da Silva looks next to White and Dosunmu. See who is a long term piece potentially and build a supporting cast for the prospects you draft in 2025 and 2026, and likely 2027, as well.

I might like this but it's kind of touch and go

Whoever they could get in a S&T for DeRozan fits somewhere

Poeltl probably gives the Bulls better defense, the trade off is way less offense
Nnaji really hasn't shown much and he's got 3 years to get paid
McDaniels is not a kid anymore he's out of potential he'd have to really come on strong to get ahead of Phillips
MPJ is the expensive key, if he and Patrick Williams can become a pair of not quite PF's they can both shoot and play the switching defense Donovan likes they could be a strong part of the team. They both have to score to offset Poeltl
That's the same reason Ayo would start over Caruso because he figures to be more of an offensive threat

They're free to draft a shooter/scorer at #11, now if Lonzo Ball does play, then it's really good

I would do it if it was the best the Bulls thought they could find
