Ivey + Stewart for Kispert + Kuzma

I think this is a slight spin on this basic idea, but I may be wrong
WAS trades: Kyle Kuzma, Corey Kispert
DET trades: Jaden Ivey, Isaiah Stewart
Why WAS does it: get a higher upside prospect and also bring in a second stretch(ish) 5 who opens the floor up for Ivey's drives [along with Vukcevic].
Why DET does it: get two very good shooters to create a better development environment for the young guys.

'Good enough' might be more appropriate, but I'd rather have 34% on extremely high volume than 40% on low volume, I think Kuzma's shooting at power forward is one of the most valuable aspects of his game.

I'd probably do this as a Wiz fan. Ivey hasn't been good but is still pretty young and has some appeal as a prospect. Kuz and Kispert are pretty good players right now but without the upside of Ivey. Good idea.
I love the idea of the two worst teams in the league shuffling their pieces among them, btw.

What did Kuzma do to deserve this?
From LA to Washington to Detroit.
Life comes at you fast! One moment you win a championship living in LA. Next moment you rotting away in Detroit.

He’s from Flint, so it would be a homecoming for him. He’s also very active in his community.

why would you want high volume of below average 3 pt shooting??

I wouldn’t mind picking up Kispert but Kuzma makes more than he’s worth. And giving up both Ivey and Stewart is way too rich. SRP for Kispert?

They still have the water issue?

Ivey has way more to him than shown, and thats due to historically bad coaching from Monty Williams.
I want absolutely nothing to due with Kuzma. Talked crap about the Pistons. That chud will never be a Piston.

The ability to warp a defense with shooting is a function of both efficiency and volume - ideally you want a guy who has both but defenses don't really have to gameplan around a guy as a "shooter" if he's shooting a very low volume of shots (for example, Draymond shot nearly 40% from 3 this year but no one is respecting him on offense as a "shooter")
From a defensive game planning perspective, a high-volume average-efficiency shooter is harder to defend than a low-volume high-efficiency shooter.

I'd actually say no as a Wizards fan. Kispert provides much needed 3-point shooting and spacing. Without him on the court, its tougher to evaluate Bilal (and whomever is taken at #2). Better for him to be on the team to allow the other young players to grow. Regarding Kuzma, I have no issue trading him, but I want draft picks then players as the enticing element for the trade.

A) Kispert is worth more than a 2nd round pick
B) I find complaining about Kuzma's contract a bit silly when sending out Stewart who has a bad contract himself

Stewart has a very fair contract. And he’s just gotten better every year. He also was rumored to be a target at the trade deadline from multiple teams so they must have thought it was fair as well.
I do agree a single SRP is a bit lite for Kispert, maybe two SRPs?

I can't see a 1st for Kispert, so that looks fair.

Absolutely? $15 million a year for a center with a -2.3BPM (-1.73 LEBRON, -0.88 Darko BPM, +0.1EPM) who doesn't block shots and misses a ton of games. There is stuff there to like with the shooting and I think it is a reasonable bet that as a 23 year old there is more to come - so I don't mind attributing value to him and even giving an asset - but that value is 100 percent speculative because he is one of the worst defensive centers in the NBA. You can argue, 'well, context is a mitigating factors,' and fair enough - but you could do the same for Kuzma, too, who has only been in very bad situations.
Any positive value attributed to him is entirely speculative because, at this point, he should be playing 15-20 minutes a game (max) on a decent team as a backup center - and backup centers don't make that much. His positional versatility is pretty overrated, as well. Unless you have a switchy/stretchy 5 a la Chet, he really should be position-locked as a center. I do think he is a nice fit, specifically with Ivey, because he helps open up the lane for Ivey to get to the rim so I don't mind a bad team like Washington (or Detroit, for that matter) giving him more minutes than he would get in a different environment - but ... yah, he's a bad contract absent some pretty large leaps in his game (that I'm not forecasting but you might), and I don't think it matters if teams were rumored to be interested in him in the past.

Didn't Kuzma win a ring?

Well, if everyone thinks Kuzma is just a garbage player who can't shoot, and Kispert is worth merely a second round pick, then the Wizards are happy to go ahead and keep them.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I think keeping Kuzma on to tank command for the next two seasons makes sense.
