They have all their future FRP (18 this year) + Denver 25 and approximately 36 million of cap space (correct me if I'm wrong) what are you doing this offseason?

Focus on upgrade at guard. Need serious upgrade in shooting to take the next step.

Offer Denver Suggs, Cole and picks for Murray. The Nuggets have a MAJOR cap crunch coming and will need relief. This trade gets them below the 2nd apron and allow them to make moves.

Murray would fit in great next to Franz and Paolo.

I'd make a move for a scoring guard, even if they're bad defensively or a little older. The system and frontcourt players can support a downgrade in point of attack defense. See if Anthony, Howard, and Houstan are valuable as a package or individuals to re-orient the rest of the rotation.

If ORL keeps M. Wagner & Isaac, but renounces Fultz, Bitadze, Okeke, Ingles, Harris...I believe they have $43m in cap space.

I'd be aiming for more by trying to trade Cole Anthony. Cole has value, but I think with ORL bringing in a starting PG and having Black and Jett ready to increase their roles, Cole's $13m per, while fair, is too much for his likely role - particularly with extensions on deck for Suggs & Franz, with Paolo & Isaac on deck. This is the summer to do something significant.
Renounce Fultz, Ingles, Okeke, Goga

Draft Terrence Shannon or Ja'Kobe Walter at #18 (both are big 2-way guards that can score. I prefer the 23yo NBA-ready Shannon)
Draft BPA prospect w/srp...Ajay Mitchell, Nikola Djurisic, Chomche - park them in Osceola unless miraculous summer league

Trade #1...Jett Howard & Cole Anthony + DEN 25 frp to CHA for Mark Williams & Tre Mann (presuming CHA drafts Clingan)
*ORL actually gains $9m in cap space, swaps prospects at different positions-who have, for different reasons & questions.
*I consider Cole a significant upgrade to Mann for CHA's 6th man and Jett offers upside appx equal to Williams? Am I off here?

Trade #2...Anthony Black + ORL 26 (top 8 protected) to ATL for Dejounte Murray (-17.4m cap space)
*sorry AB fans, but I think he's what gets it done...I'd rather include 2 more future frps but...AB/Trae could be ATL's vision

Roughly $34.5m available cap space
Sign Kyle Anderson for $10m x 2yrs, sign Spencer Dinwiddie for $10m x 2yrs (front-loaded as much as possible)
...re-sign Harris for $10m x 1yr with TO for second. Could explore whether GTJ is receptive to a reserve role and pay scale instead.

WCJ, Williams, Mo
Paolo, Isaac, Slo-Mo
Franz, Slo-Mo, Houstan
Suggs, Shannon, Harris
Murray, Dinwiddie, Mann

Murray would be sweet there. I'm guessing they won't give up Suggs so maybe something around Black, 25' 1st, 27 1st

That is a serious overpay for Murray.

Sacrilegious version...

ORL sends Franz Wagner, Mo Wagner, Cole Anthony, ORL 25 frp (top 5), DEN 25 frp (top 5)
CLE sends Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen

Sign Tyus Jones to 13m x 2 + 1TO

Draft da Silva at #18, Schiermann in second round (offer future srps to move into position for him)

Allen/Carter/Isaac
Paolo/Isaac/Carter
Black, da Silva, Houstan
Suggs, Howard, Schiermann
Garland, Jones, Black

Murray is exactly what they need as a creator and scorer from the perimeter. With Issac they have defenders that can cover for him and quite frankly, I think that Black **should** be a good defender to replace the Suggs role. He has all the tools.

I think it would work better for ORL if Suggs was next to Murray.

I agree. I wouldn't give up Suggs because he is a major part of their D, the head of the snake

Obviously ORL needs a guard to run the offence. They have enough talent/assets to trade so they should be able to hang on to the Paolo/Franz/Suggs core unless they're getting a bona fide all-star, and I don't believe Murray is at that level.

Bold for sure

I wouldn't give up on Franz -- I still think it's a coin flip as to whether he's better than Garland in 2 years. In fact I'd be looking at getting a top flight guard to (among other things) help Franz's game and maybe unlock another level.

Swap Black in for Suggs then...Suggs is about to get a big extension - which diminishes the trade value/benefit, in DEN's situation. Black is 6'7 and smart...he'd do very well in DEN, imo.

Then Denver has limited scoring from their guard spots. Suggs provides scoring and defense which is why he is being asked for. To this point, Black has not shown NBA scoring ability though he was drafted as a potential defensive stud. Thus Denver's motivation to do this disappears.

Who is more willing to take the chance that Black's offense develops, Denver or Orlando?

Im building a defensive juggernaut. Sign Claxton, and trade WCJ+2 1sts for Dejounte Murray. The shooting will take care of itself. Franz just needs to go back to 35+% as he has shown he can do. Paolo and Suggs will need to continue to improve.
D.Murray-Cole
Suggs-Black-Howard
Franz-Houstan
Paolo-Isaac
Claxton-Mo

Thats an improved on offense as well but the defense could be really special, especially if Isaac can give us 20-25 mpg.

I wouldn't do Suggs alone for Murray let alone all of that lol

LOOOOVE it, but I don't know how much ATL values WCJ with Capela, Okongwu, and #1 likely being Sarr. WCJ could play with any of them, at PF...he'd be great alongside Sarr if they relocated Capela. I don't think 2 (late) frps do it, maybe 3 or Howard or Black in the mix. Noone, including me, wants to sacrifice Black - but win-now teams might see him as the defense-now, upside later appealing guy.

I'd be a little sad, but would pull the trigger on WCJ, Black, ORL frp, DEN frp for Murray - maybe get them to throw in AJ Griffin.
You are absolutely right on about the kind of defense ORL could have with Claxton AND Murray added to an already tough D. Suggs and Murray punishing at the POA, with Claxton backing up their gambles :noway: Nasty...and then Isaac, who's probably the best of them.

Financially ORL is gonna have to pay both Paulo and Franz and the theoretical Murray deal. Adding Suggs is alot to ask. So they actually could use the savings from a rookie Black more than Denver.

I still think they need a true #1, but they have time to focus on finding it.

Add Murray, add Hartenstein.

A title contender will not just give away their second best player. As long as you have Jokic in his prime, you can't make a downgrade like that.
