Butler to LA
Heat Get:
Austin Reaves
D'Angelo Russell
Rui Hachimura
They begin their youth movement and build around Bam. I think they can even be better with this roster.
DLo/Herro/Reaves/Rui/Bam
Lakers Get:
Jimmy Butler
They go all in with Lebron's last remaining years while still leaving them with an AD/Butler duo in the next several years.
Vincent/Butler/Lebron/Vanderbilt/AD
Austin Reaves
D'Angelo Russell

I disagree. I don't know why Jimmy Butler's value is so overinflated and unwarranted.
First off, it's pretty much a given that he's missing 25-30 games (and playoff games too). Secondly, he's going to be 35 years old. Thirdly, he's not a superstar. He's a Robin-level player at this point in his career.
I think Reaves/Hachimura and the Lakers pick this year is on point. The Lakers' window is closing and I think for them, they can pay that price.

Re: Butler to LA
I mean anyone who thinks Austin Reeves returns Jimmy Butler is badly overvaluing Reeves and shouldn't lecture anyone on overvaluing Butler. And Rui/Russell is neutral at absolute best.

Re: Butler to LA
I'm not someone who wants to give Butler his next contract extension, but when your top players are LeBron James somehow still playing top 10 basketball at age 39, and a 31yo Anthony Davis, you care about right now, not 3-5 years from now. The Lakers should be able to offer #17 and a future 1st without hesitation to turn Austin Reaves and two relative nobody's into Jimmy Butler.

Nope. If you have nothing to add, don't post. You know better than this.

Fair enough.
Light on value for MIA. They give up an all nba talent for a bad contract, a bench guy and a starter.
I guess MIA would really have to like Reeves to consider this.
Seems unlikely.

Heat need some picks make the value work. Not a ton but a couple.

Re: Butler to LA
Not touching on value as it's been said pretty well already, but I'm wondering where this youth movement is? Reaves and Rui are both 26 while D'Lo is 28.
Wouldn't really classify that as a move for a youth movement. I mean, younger than Jimmy, sure.

Turning 36, soon to be retired
For
2 young players on low contracts, 1 with almost LeBron James physical genetic gifts, Team USA, and 1 former all-star

Re: Butler to LA
I agree with the general consensus that this is a 1st or perhaps 2 away.
From there I think it works. Given his age I don't see Butler returning a massive haul at this point. Still, there's a strong argument for Miami to get somewhat younger and cheaper. It also avoids the issue of how much to pay Butler going forward. The Lakers go full all-in, and Butler's probably the best win right now option they can get.

Re: Butler to LA
ALMOST LEBRON PHYSICAL GIFTS
Reaves is a decent starter, Rui is a fine rotational player, Russel is as inconsistent as a player can be. Jimmy Butler, missing 20 to 30 games a year can land much better returns.
a Lineup of Russel-Herro-Reaves-Rui-Bam is probably bottom 10 of the league

Re: Butler to LA
I think there's something here
Butler to LA
#17/Rui/DLo from Lakers to Miami and #18 from Magic to Miami
Reeves to Magic
Magic get some offense, creation for cap space and pick
Lakers roll the dice on a star
Miami saves A TON of $ and goes with
Rozier/DLo
Herro/DRobinson
JJJ/Martin
Jovic/Rui
Bam
Plus they have the #15, 17, 18 to stock up for the future
They take a year off and keep their pick in '25, then go all in next summer with cap space and young talent, building around Bam

Re: Butler to LA
The last thing the lakers need is a 36 year old who skips the regular season to prime himself for the playoffs.

So the best asset outside of Butler goes to a third team? There's nothing there

A soon to be 35 year old who is averaging 58 GP over the last 5 seasons that seems more interested in securing one last payday than winning a championship probably isn't nearly as valuable as you think he is. I'm not saying Miami should deal him for free, but the guy's trade value is dwindling fast.
