Trying a relatively small one before I do a real ugly one..
Dallas: Gafford, 2025 Toronto 2nd, 2026 Dallas 2nd
Dallas: Caruso
Dallas gets the guard they needed this playoff run.. THJ+unprotected first being strongly shopped after this. Maybe that’s WCJ? That would open enough money for DJJ..
Memphis: Ziare, Rose, 2025 Memphis first (top 18, 14, 12, 10, 8, 2nd)
Memphis: Gafford and Dallas 2026 2nd
Memphis gets a really good MLE center without using their MLE. They hard cap themselves at the first apron, but they aren’t going over the first apron anyways. If you want to avoid that and make it bigger, a Konchar or Luke add on can be done pretty easily. Dallas would love to end up with Luke here..
Chicago: Caruso
Chicago: Ziare, Rose, 2025 Toronto 2nd, 2025 Memphis first (top 18, 14, 12, 10, 8, 2nd)
Chicago gets a first and a second whole taking a look at Ziare. Rose homecoming in something, but could must be sent to Dallas if it’s a problem.

If Dallas had a plan in place to replace Gafford, sure. But an unprotected pick for a guy that's as average and unavailable as WCJ isnt it

Doubt it would be unprotected you are right... But do think WCJ is worth a first. Would have to be really lightly protected as there’s no rollover option.

Again, minus ONE plus TWO is not the plan for the Bulls. They give up one guard and get two back so they are even more overcrowded than they are now and they still don't have a PF.
The Bulls don't need to look at a 3 year NBA player who is a throw in, they and the rest of the league has seen him and aren't impressed. when Derrick Rose retires the Bull will sign him to a one day contract so he can retire in Chicago and be placed in the Ring of Honor.

The players don’t really matter. Chicago gets a first and an early second without taking back bad salary. That’s a win? They actually fill a roster spot for less than they send out. Which might help with how tight to the tax they will be if they do run it back..
Ziare is 6’9 though. He’s not good. But he’s also not really a guard.
If it’s just about getting a PF back, Dallas can send Maxi and take the two Grizzlies? P

Rather land WCJ if he is in play but Gafford would be a decent option at this cost.

If Memphis hadn’t traded him, Tillman would’ve been perfect as a center option sent back to Dallas. (Edit: nevermind, he’s hitting free agency this offseason)
I think I like the deal as is for all parties.

Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

It is a type of trade that is done to cover the hole rather than to make us noticeably better, like Clax or Allen.

Re: Memphis/Dallas/Chicago - Caruso/Gafford
Yeah, if the team is willing to pay more for a better player, they definitely should. And I can see them willing to live right at the apron for a few years and taking advance of JJJ’s contract and getting a Claxton or Allen. They are good enough to make a big move and it be affordable enough for a few years. And they should if ownership is willing to spend.
I do agree WCJ’s spacing would help but I think Gafford’s defense paired with JJJ would be pretty great as well. Neither potential pairing a lability on either end..
Both are really smart targets for Memphis if they can get either one.
