Giddey for #10 (and Collins for future 1st)
Okc trades
Giddey
Future first via Jazz
Utah trades
#10
Collins
Why for okc: they decide to keep their powder dry this year and only give up a first that may well be worthless for Collins. They also decide that they prefer what is behind door #2 more than giddey.
Why for utah: I like Giddey more than #10. And getting some cap room and that first for Collins seems good.

I can't imagine us trading 10 to get off of Collins. Our pick is unlikely to convey, and I'd rather pick at 10 than have Giddey.

Re: Giddey for #10 (and Collins for future 1st)
I'd be pretty shocked if Collins gets cap room straight up, or even that close to it. So is Giddy plus the Jazz protected future 1st worth that much less than #10? I'm not sure his trade value has cratered that much.

How about Herro, rozier and #15 for Collins, sexton, #10 and a future 2nd rnd pick?

the value doesn’t seem off (at all really), but think you need a third team to pay Utah instead of sending them the Herro/RoIer duo.

PHI offers 41 and 27 MIL 2nd for Collins. Utah can also have Paul Reed if they like.

I'm not sure the Jazz 1st has less value than 10. Collins is negative value.

I've heard rumblings that the Hornets are interested in trading for Collins. I don't think they'd ask for much, probably just one of the dozen future 1sts the Jazz own. So something like Collins and the 25 1st from MIN for Bertans and McGowens.

Is Bertans expiring?

Yes, and partially guaranteed.

Oh I'm pretty sure it is. It's top 10, top 8, nothing. So its either a pick worse than 10 that you have to wait for or its nothing.
But I don't know that the difference is an inclusion of Giddey/Collins.

Collins is a great fit for OKC and I believe he has 2 more years on his deal which is perfect for the timeline (Chet/Williams extensions then). If I’m OKC I’m targeting a guy like him - great rebounder for his size and they don’t lose spacing much. Can run as small ball 5 off bench behind Chet also. Tons more flexibility and easier to fit in their system than a traditional big like Harkensteim.

This was my thought as well.

Collins is great on paper. Collins is not great in reality. Atlanta knows this. Utah knows this. OKC knows this, without having to fall into the trap.

Re: Giddey for #10 (and Collins for future 1st)
seems like a perfect match:
* OKC has 10 & 12 and they love draft picks
* Giddey goes to Utah. Isn't the age of consent lower there?

If the pick is 12th in 2025 it is more valuable than 10 in 2024. I am against any draft night trade of Collins for OKC because it caps their off-season where they should be exploring using their cap space for a significantly better player. They have max cap space. If they strike out in FA and trading for a better player, i.e. WCJ, then you can go back and explore taking on Collins.

Yeah people like to say this, but honestly we can't. We know this draft is top poor, not depth poor. And we know having to wait a year costs you value. And its way too soon to say anything about the 12 best prospects in a year.
And that's if you get 12 next year which feels quite unlikely that Utah is a top 20 team. So now its likely another year with an even more unknown draft.
No, the only realistic way to value #10 now versus both all possible outcomes of that Jazz pick and the most likely ones is to say #10 is worth clearly more.

The Jazz should take this and run.

Ehh that’s too simple of a statement. Collins low key had a decent year last year and Utah played around .500 ball after their slow start and before their tank.
Collins thrives next to a non traditional big that can space the floor. Chet is that. He also is an above average rebounder for his size. He checks enough boxes for a guy who won’t cost OKC’s main guys.
