Denver/Detroit/Brooklyn Shake-Up

Denver trades: Michael Porter Jr., Zeke Nnaji, #28 pick in 2024
Denver receives: Cam Johnson, Isaiah Stewart
Denver's why: Denver adds to their depth by adding a shooter to replace MPJ and Isaiah Stewart who can be the backup 5 they've needed for years while shedding some salary in the process
Detroit trades: Isaiah Stewart, #5 pick in 2024
Detroit receives: Michael Porter Jr.
Detroit's why: Detroit add some much needed shooting while also clearing two logjams; one being the glut of high lottery picks to build to develop and the other being the amount of bigs that they have
Brooklyn trades: Cam Johnson
Brooklyn receives: Zeke Nnaji, #5 pick in 2024, #28 pick in 2024
Brooklyn's why: Brooklyn adds two draft picks in a year where they sent their #3 to Houston which will allow them to take a swing on a high-upside prospect
Does this framework have potential? Would Denver have to sweeten the pot? Does Brooklyn or Detroit even answer the phone?
Give me your honest feedback.

MPJ is a great fit but I worry about his health

This are some left field evaluations on MPJ and especially Cam Johnson.

Wow, Brooklyn just stealing value. Take out the #5 pick and you are closer to realistic.

This is some crazy evaluations. I have Cam Johnson as neutral value, which means it costs #5 and #28 just to dumb Nnaji? That can't be right.
Detroit is 2 years away from being 2 years away [I kid I kid] but they need to be in asset accumulation mode, not "Trade a Top Lotto Pick for a mediocre starting Wing".
Also, OP, teams over the 2nd Apron can't aggregate salary. What does this mean? If you want to acquire $10 in player salary, you can't use a $7 and $3 player to get to $10. This means that MPJ can only receive one of Cam Johnson OR Isaiah Stewart, not both, and you can't add Nnaji's salary to MPJ in order to make it work.

Not a horrible OP but from a Pistons standpoint, they got $60M+ in cap space, which should net them 3 players and a #5 pick. That’s adding 4 players to a roster that needs help.
But with this trade, you’re giving up #5, Stewart and $20M in cap space for MPJ. That’s 3 for 1 of starting level players. And of course there is the injury risk on top of that huge contract for MPJ. This wouldn’t be my Plan A.

I wouldn't take Porter as a salary dump let alone Stewart and the number five

Hard pass. Too much risk, too big of a cost.
Considering his salary and (now somewhat distant) injury history, along with our glaring need for shooting, I’d consider MPJ for the Pistons, but not at this cost.
That contract was bad the moment it was signed. Denver didn’t get enough of a discount to lock in a somewhat limited player with a scary injury history. Since then, Porter Jr. has proved fairly durable, improved his defense, and has made it look smarter — but still not, in an absolute sense, smart. If he were a FA looking to sign for what he’s getting paid, I’d at least consider it, though I’d probably look elsewhere first. To give up Stew and the 5th pick to do it, though…. definitely no.

Lol it's no joke. We really are 2 years away from being 2 years away.

How about simplicity- #5 for Cam Johnson?

I’m pretty sure the Nets would be overjoyed to do that, but I’d pass.
This draft probably does suck really bad, but a cost-controlled player of your choice (minus Sarr, Risacher, and two others) has significantly more value than an overpaid 3&D wing, even if we need one badly.

Way, way to much value going out for the Pistons. I have angrily stated multiple times, that the Pistons need to make aggressive moves to make sure proper fitting NBA level players need to be placed around Cade, but this is ridiculous.
Stewart is a backup 4/5 so Porter would be replacing Stewart, +#5? Makes very little sense to me. Don't get me wrong, Porter is a player that would fit with Cades game, but the cost is way to high.

Seems like really really bad value for #5, even in this draft.
With Cam's inflated contract, injuries, and mediocre production, I'd put his value more towards a 1st in the mid-20's in this draft. I also wouldn't be surprised if Brooklyn just moves off his deal in a salary dump at some point.
Certainly I'd MUCH rather just sign someone like Tobias Harris or whoever and keep #5 for other deals. I consider Cam, Tobias, and even Fontecchio (who we got for a 2nd rounder) in the same tier of player.

I don't think Denver needs to reinvent the wheel, I would pass on this deal.

How about the Pistons other pick, #54? Has Cam’s value dropped this much?

I think we'd need something in between haha. #5 is definitely too high, #54 is basically nothing.
Not sure we're a good landing spot since we could just sign someone like Tobias to fill a very similar gap in the lineup and it would cost no assets. Certainly I don't think there's a notable gap between the 2. Maybe a capped out contender with a less useful matching salary would be willing to give up more for him than it would make sense for Detroit to give.

Only way Detroit should be moving #5 is in a trade down for assets or as part of a package for a superstar.

Nets fans are going to kidnap Cam and drive him to Detroit after this.

Cam johnson isnt worth close to that.
The 28th pick sure, but attached to a “meh” salary
Cam’s got a replacement level / league average vibe to him

It's so amazing - a couple of years ago, everyone in Detroit was thinking 4x$25M gets Cam to Detroit. Some of the best moves are the ones you don't make.
