Charlotte/Cleveland sign n trade Klutch swap

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:04 am

Charlotte trade: Miles Bridges
Cleveland trade: Darius Garland

Charlotte gets a guard who can play with Melo in the backcourt. If Melo goes down with injury they still have a all-star caliber guard to run the show. Garland is also best friends with Brandon Miller so the chemistry shouldn't be a problem.

Cleveland gets a much needed scoring wing. There were rumors Garland would be shopped if DMitch returns. This gives them more versatility to their roster Bridges is 26 and fits with DMitch as far as age. Reports Cleveland was interested in Bridges last season.

This is missing a ton of value for Cleveland.

I think if Miles Bridges were under contract, something like Bridges+#6 could have legs.

How does Bridges have any value at all in a S&T where he makes enough to match with Garland? Why are we overvaluing a good, but far from great player with serious decision making concerns that make it very unlikely a team would commit this kind of money to him, much less commit this kind of money to him and just give you a pretty good young PG.

Value feels way way off here.

Bridges is a 20+ppg scorer.

Unless I'm missing something Garland is also a 20+ppg scorer.

Neither are great defenders. What's the value Charlotte has to add to make up the difference?

I have zero interest in adding Miles Bridges to the Cavs roster.

Yeah, I think Martin/Richards/Bertans/6th for Garland is a lot more realistic/fair.

Cleveland can build the third team on their own.

Interesting. I think Charlotte would prefer this anyway. I know I would.

Yeah, I think Cleveland can go find a good fit with 6th, though it might need to be done as part of the deal. Or can just draft whichever forward they like and try and upgrade roster using the salary filler and 20th and take a slower approach.

Slower approach doesn’t really fit with keeping Mitchell over Garland, but options.

For Charlotte, you create a potentially amazing offense. Though the defense is really going to need help off the bench.

Garland/Melo/Miller/Bridges/Mark is a pretty sweet starting five in the dream universe where everyone actually stays healthy. No clue how we manage to build a bench after this, but I'd be quite happy with that team.

I think if the Cavs wanted a pick package for Garland, they don't, the could do far better.

I see this as an easy pass from Cleveland. I'm certainly down on Garland's value as a difference maker, but not nearly this far down.

Why would Klutch let Garland go to Charlotte? There’s reports that they’ll push Garland out of Cleveland if Mitchell re-signs so that Garland can have a true lead guard spot somewhere. He clearly won’t have hat in Charlotte. :dontknow:

If we want Garland I think I'd rather move LaMelo for the best offer we could get and then route whatever that 3rd team is sending to Cleveland.

Not saying that Garland is getting traded to Charlotte, but Ben Simmons didn't want to end up in Brooklyn and that happened anyway. I suspect the Cavs push hard for Garland to come back under a new coach and at least give it until the deadline to see how it goes. If Klutch (or Garland) refuse, I can't see Garland's preferred destination mattering much to the Cavs.
